Civic SI

Even Honda has problems.

Per Road and Track:
lift-throttle delay characteristics, which had caused choppy upshifts.

However, with each distance milestone passed, possibly due to synchronizer wear or worn bushings, the 2–3 shift became less precise, resulting in a missed shift should the action be too quick or lack deliberateness. Occasionally, even when shifting slowly and with utmost concentration, we ran into binding resistance going into 3rd, which would kick the gear-shift lever back to neutral if the clutch was let out a moment too soon. The clutch of our Si had a relatively late disengagement point close to the firewall

2 recalls performed: one pertaining to Passenger SRS system, the other checking for possible improper installation of rear ABS wheel-speed sensor

I know this is a long term test update, but what's the point?

You and me both, man. :banghead:

You mean other cars besides the RX-8 have problems? Well holy shit! I never would have known had you not been posted this...

I can't decide what I'm more tired of. People complaining about the RX-8, or the sad attempts to justify the few problems the RX-8 does have.

This is not a sad attempt. Just facts.

All cars can have problems. Need to point that out to the :crying: babies.

I'm sure we can find some for the EVO.

Honestly I think the issue is unrealistic expectations when it comes to vehicle ownership. Sure it would be fantastic to buy a car and not ever have to take it into the shop for the first 60,000 miles, it start every time and never show a sign of age.

I'd say stick to vehicles that have long existed on the market but we can find recalls, TSB's, and problems with any vehicle on the market.

Other issues stem from owners not taking responsibility for basic care. Using cheap fluids, extended periods of time for changing fluids out, not addressing problems right away or simply not using the vehicle as it was intended (aka grocery getter etc.).

The ONLY issue that I can say raises an eyebrow is in regards to the engine recalls for the RX8. Not because of the problems with the motor but because it's my opinion that if the internal Mazda dealership video or memo's regarding elimination of RX8 owner scores was not released the recall would never have happened.

Mazda got caught with their pants down hard core and the recall I believe was an attempt to silence the outcry that took place.

Otherwise, I've experienced issues with my RX8 like many others but I've taken it to the dealer and the problem has been fixed. Cars that are REALLY driven don't break as much.

Anyway, it's all part of the ownership process. Hell you can't even get perfection out of higher priced vehicles and half the time their over-computerization leaves you stranded.

I've seen how most people shift their manual cars, it doesn't surprise me that the synchros are blown to pieces. If you car has a stupid rev-hang, you can't just jam it into the next gear and let the synchro sort it out. It's ridiculous tuning like this that made me lose all interest in present-day Honda cars.
