Cash for Clunkers is Murder!

I was at a mazda dealer today, and they were destroying cars for cash for clunkers. When i go there they had 2 left. First one was a 99 Mustang GT with 70k on it. What a waste! Then they pull around an FC :Freak_ani . I asked why they would destroy this fc in great shape and he just shrugged and continued. I watched as this defiant rx7 refused to give in to their sacrelig! After filling it with the sodium silicate it never started and thus couldnt seize. I dont know if it was ever destoryed but I felt like I was watching a murder but she refused to give in! Then while looking around, I notice a familiar silver shape. After inspection, it was asilver FD with only 45k on it:Drooling_! It was in fairly good shape but had vacuum line problems. One owner trade in, no wrecks or even dents, but scratches. They didnt know what they were gonna do with it. I had to save it, and expressed interest in purchasing it in its current state as a project:ylsuper:. Hopefully they will be reasonable with their price. I thought it was funny they had more rx7s there then rx8s haha.

A rx8 even in wrecked condition is worth more than $4500. So it would not be logical to trade it in for that amount.

Damn. That sounds hot. What a dumb ass for trading it in.

Hope you get it.

If it was traded in for the "Cash for Clunkers" program, no one can buy it. It will be scrapped period. That is the whole method to the madness.

mysql101 09-16-2009 06:48 PM

if the dealer didn't do the paperwork yet, it won't matter to them if someone pays 4500 cash for the car instead of filing the paperwork with the gov't.

EdwardsB 09-16-2009 06:51 PM

I think you can buy the car, minus the destroyed engine (why they pour that stuff in/run it with no oil until it seizes). Then put what ever engine you want into it.

mike1324a 09-16-2009 07:02 PM

There were more 7s then 8s on the lot total, not just c4c! They had 2 rx8s on the lot, and 3 rx7s. Also the FD was not a c4c trade so its not even gonne be destoryed. Im waiting for the dealership owner to call me, and we can deal.

m477 09-16-2009 07:54 PM

so the point of this thread is.... someone traded in their 16-year-old sports car and you want to buy it... wtf does this have to do with c4c exactly?

nikkdizzle 09-16-2009 07:59 PM

the horror! the horror!

NOTURX8 09-16-2009 08:07 PM

good luck on the project, hope it goes well with the deal.... I assume it hurts to see them trash them

rich8ames 09-16-2009 10:07 PM

It was a shame that some good cars were being scrapped; unfortunate people could have used those cars.

I didn't see this post yet, here is the final tally of all the cash for clunkers.

http://www.cars.gov/files/official-i...n-vehicles.pdf

There was 1 buick GNX, i mean you sell the vin for more then 5000.

there were over 300 rx7s including 1 1993 rx7 and only 1 rx8.

Wouldn't an rx8 be worth more in parts? I mean it has to be running when you bring it in. Even if its a running wreck you could still sell a lot of part off it totally more then 4,500

That's a shame that people didn't really know how much money they had, they just went for the quick buck. Stupid. I mean a buick GNX jesus less then 500 were made.

Spoolin8 09-23-2009 03:19 PM

Me and my father own number 301. She sits covered in our garage with 20k original miles, still has the original Eagle GT tires and everything on her. Ill be sure to snap some pics for you.

(sorry for offtopic post)

ndhoffma 09-23-2009 03:21 PM

An 08 mustang? An M3 & M5? What were they thinking? People like that should not have access to nice vehicles

05rx8mazda 09-23-2009 03:23 PM

well at least that just made rx7's rarer hehehehe..

those old rx7's arent worth more than 2K sooo imagine if someone said they were giving 20K for cash for clunkers i bet a lot more people would get rid of thier rx8's that are only worth 9-10K lolololol

sad but its the american way.

bsteimel 09-24-2009 08:09 AM

Hey Spoolin, i'll take some pics of the GNX, this is one of my dream cars. I was sad when they took the cop drama, life, off the air. Not sure if that was a GNX or just a grand national in the show, but still a sweet car. If you can take a high quality pic for a wallpaper background that would be awesome. Or if you have any lying around from past car shows.

Oh and there were also some other 'exotics' on that list too. Aston martin to name one.

nope

if the paperwork hasnt "gone thru", which is common. the dealership can back out.

I mean wow, what a dumbass to trade in an FD with 45K miles for 4500 bux.

they dont even know how much their car is worth, thats probably why they fell into this Cash for "STUPID" program.

Um, if it would have been 20k I would have gotten rid of my 8 in a second. If someone would give you twice what it's worth wouldn't you take it?

budd 09-29-2009 09:00 PM

Link was already posted, just missed it.
