Cadillac CTS. I think it is a decent choice. Opinions?

335i - well I guess it's not new in '08. Okay 135i.

In my opinion, well deserved. I didn't get the chance to drive one yet but attended a dealer unveiling and it is a nice, well designed car with an incredible interior. If the badges were removed, you could never convince someone they were sitting in a GM product. Only thing missing is a two door version which is suppose to come around in another year or so. That and the stick shifts have been recalled and will not come out until spring.

it probably is a great car. it's not my cup of tea, especially at 3960lbs.. but i think we're about to see an era of lightweight cars anyway.

I like the car a lot and I wouldn't mind owning one, but I bet repairs would be expensive as hell. I've never owned a caddy though so I could be wrong on that one.

I drove the new CTS and didn't think much of it. The interior looked nice, but was pieced together poorly, and I felt it would wear quickly. The tranny blows, steering was vague, and suspension very floaty.

Excellent choice. It's a very advanced automobile. Not my thing tho'.

I had a Cadillac. I hated it. But that is because I was teenager and it was an old piece of sheet. And when you are a teenager driving a Cadi . . you get teased. :(
I am sure the CTS is a nice car, but I would have chosen something different for 'COTY'

It looks nice. I don't think i would buy one because of high repair costs. I wonder how the depreciation is going to be on the new ones.

High Repair costs? You must be confusing this caddy with some other brand. American cars are the most reasonable as far as dealer service and the like. Plus you could get this bad boy serviced at just about any GM dealer.

If you want high repair costs go buy a BMW.

Anyways, I honestly think that the CTS is an appropriate American replacement for the BMW 3 series/5series. Takes advantage with a huge size benefit (well...) over the 3 series and huge price advantage with the lower cost.

I suppose you're talking about the supercharged 2009 CTS-V...
You can't argue that a car that might be able to stay with or roll by an M5 is interesting. Although I'd probably never buy one, I still want to see what they come up with.

CTS = Garbage.

It won't last. It didn't last in the 70's either.
The 70's hemi cuda was around 3,800 lbs and it had practically nothing in it as far as technology was concerned.
Gas prices are going up.. Power numbers are going up. Curb weights are going up (with some exceptions).
The easiest way to get better gas mileage and performance is to invest some money, do the material science and get your curb weights down.
