Which car manufacturer has the weirdest/craziest colors?

So I'm parked on the freeway this morning on the way to work, traffic moving slower than a crippled turtle, in my lightning yellow rx8, which is turning into lightning covered in mud/crap/rain yellow by the second. It's raining really hard and there I sit and start to notice all the drab colored cars next to me, everything is silver, black, grey, brown, gray, silver, there's no red, or even a white, definitely no yellow or blue, just gray skies, boring cars, and tons of rain. So I started thinking, who has the craziest, most oddball colors for their vehciles? I've seen some BMW's that were odd, especially the M3 here at work that's like a mustard color, there's a couple of New Beetles that are a little strange color wise, even Scion makes some baby blue concoction for the TC. Anyone else care to share your observations? I look back at a lot of the older 50's and 60's cars, and it seems cars just aren't as colorful anymore I guess. :Wconfused

bah, I know scion was mentioned but this thread could not have any better timing. One of my friends' dad bought this "Limited" xB. Funniest part is she used to comment on how much she hated them, now she loves it. I present to you, (what I like to call) The Sour Apple.

you already said the ones i was gonna say. BMW and VW. the M3 has that ugly greenish yellow colow, laguna seca blue, and my favorite carbon black. the new E60 5 series, there is this brownish color...i don't think i've seen a brown color on a car. the "M" cars came in the sexy estroil blue. the new M5 comes in this silver/blueish color.

MINI has some interesting color combinations too.

They call that Legend Lime. Kinda reminds me of split pea soup.

How about the "Interlagos Fire" pain that Nissan will add to your 350Z for $500.

I'm waiting for iMac-like body panels on cars. Saturn could have partnered with Apple and made a killing off of candy colored, translucent paneled SL2 and SC2. Hey, they could have competed against Ford and Dell :)

Pontiac and chevy have sunset orange metallic and a purple! I believe chevy has a pearl color, not sure though

i notice way too many silver and grey cars out there today as well. I'm guessing because silver suppsoedly has the highest resale value? and is easiest to "keep looking clean".

I dont ever really want a silver car, I got the brilliant black and while its a bitch to keep clean it's worth it.

canaryrx8 03-30-2006 11:55 AM

black is hard to keep clean, especially in the dust bowl otherwise known as Texas, Lotus does have some nifty colors for the Elise, I know the 350 comes in a burnt ornage and a yellow as well. With all the aftermarket craze going on right now, I wonder how much longer before we start seeing "now with 20" chrome wheels AND custom paint" off the showroom floor lol
