C&D- Comparo, Accord, Mazda 6..The winner is..
2014 Mazda 6 Grand Touring vs. 2013 Honda Accord EX-L – Comparison Test – Car and Driver
Will be interesting to see 'IF' Car and Driver actually follows up with this Mazda 6 win and finally depose the Accord from their long standing (decades) annual ''10 Best Cars'' list. |
In before 9k.
|
Interesting...but the Mazda 6 is still the one.

 Definition of Fan Boi's.
There is reason the fully loaded highest trim level Mazda 6 GT is never compared to fully loaded competition like the Accord EX-L V-6 or Touring. You can make excuses for the 6 all day long and link whatever BS reviews you want but a V-6 Accord with a 6 Speed would trounce the Mazda 6. And the Mazda 6 GT can continue to barely beat out mid level Accords in BS magazine reviews all day long and at the end of the day the Accord will out sell it by 10 -1. But yeah Ash8 you are right, magazine automotive journalists are totally unbiased and 100% spot on, If you believe that I have some beach front property I would like to sell you in San Antonio. |
WHAT... 'say it with you chest' but leave your brain behind , for the 1000th time, this review is NOT about a V6 is it?, so why continue to refer to it as if it was..
Perhaps we can wait until the 2.2 Diesel arrives and then compare it maybe to the precious V6... The SA-D wont have the out and out POWER, but it will return a far better economy and 'dare I say' driving experience. |
BTW (off topic,,but..)
MAZDA WINS AGAIN WITH SKYACTIV-D CLEAN DIESEL - Jun 1, 2013 Engine is 51% OEM.. |
Of course it's not about a V-6 , because if it were, you would not be linking stupid comparison articles,. Reviews like this are about as telling as a Camaro V-6 versus Mustang Boss 302 comparison or a Mazda 3 Skyactiv versus a Ford Focus ST review.

i can't understand what is the problem..
both cars are IL 4 banger 2.5 both are AT the price is quite similar (less than $1000 of difference, a small amount IMHO) Mazda is better for handling, transmission and overall feeling. in my opinion this comparo is not biased. |
This is interesting.
I almost bought a EX. Looks like I will have to visit the Mazda dealer. |

He's an American consumer, who just also happens to be from Texas. Big, wide open, expanses of nothing surround some of the hottest, most unpleasant cities in the entire US to live in during the summer, short circuits their desire to own anything that doesn't have 300 hp, and 450 ft-lbs of torque. Why? Because wouldn't you want to get the heck out of there as fast as possible? Honestly, most Americans will think exactly like 9k (isn't that a scary thought?), and that's the reason why this country has been taken over by pickups and huge SUV's that dragged the US automotive industry to its knees several years back (and is already heading right back that way, oddly enough). A large portion of the American car buying consumers can't stand not having the biggest version of whatever vehicle it is that interests them, and if a competing vehicle doesn't offer something directly comparable, they mock it, and say it isn't competitive. BC. |
Thanx Blade...now is more clear to me
for 9k..LESS IS MORE.... |
Unfortunately the real comparo will be, how long will each car last. Can you buy the 6 and expect it to last 15 years, 200k miles?
|
I see BC....do you mean red necks with small 'male attachments'...

Honestly, it's actually quite simple.

BC. But as I stated before it's simple, if you are going to compare a top of the line Mazda 6 GT against an Accord, then it should be compared to a top of the line Accord. I also find it funny that these threads keep getting started for the obvious reason of getting my responses so I am sort of flattered that Ash8 values my opinions so much. If you guys love the new 6 so much than go buy one and STFU about it :) |
I will say this. The shifter, and transmission shift MUCH better than any rx8 ive driven stock. I just picked my 6 up the other day, and let me tell you it may not be the fastest car or the best handling car but its damn good for the money. Interior i thought was gonna feel cheep and plasticy but it feels solid, and well made. The only part ive felt kinda flimsy is the door panel towards the bottom.
Would be nice to have some more power, but for what it is its enough to get you going. |
shhhh. dont praise the mazda or 9k will rage and call you a fanboy.

Is there some extra option in the V-6 equipped car that you can't get in the 4 cylinder car that completely changes the way the V-6 car drives, that makes it better than the 4 cylinder car, again, aside from greater acceleration? So, if the way the car drives, aside from more power, and worse handling, is exactly the same between the 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder Accords, what difference does it make if you use the 4 cylinder version in all of these comparos, with complete honesty? Everyone is poking fun at you because of the above fact. The 4 cylinder Honda has the exact same options as the 4 cylinder 6 does. If you made the comparo between that same exact Honda, and a Mazda 6 Touring, with the leather interior option, and the tech package, would the result have changed any? No. It would still drive exactly the same, if not been a bit better, with less weight weighing it down. I considered buying the Mazda 6 a couple months ago, but picked up the CX-5 instead. Same engine, but different package. I even picked up the Touring model with AWD, and added aftermarket wheels, and had the cloth interior ripped out, and Katskinz leather put in. Love my new car, by the way. Easier to stuff a crazy black lab mix into the back of the CX-5 than to stuff her into the rear seats of the Mazda 6, with less damage to the vehicle over time. The Mazda 6 is a damn fine car, compared to the cars it actually competes with, and it can do a bit of battle with cars above it's paygrade if you don't care about mooor powwaaa! The funny part is that you are thinking that we just don't get it, while we're thinking the exact same thing about you, that you just don't get it. BC. |

If Scott thinks that then he is entitled to his opinion. Treat someones opinion how you want your opinion to be treated. On another note i just think people make these cars out to be something they are not. They arent no Benz, or BMW by any means. I wouldn't buy one of those because maintenance and cost of ownership would cost me a left nut. |
