Bought the Subaru....2.5 Legacy GT
 

I love it! Basically a detuned STI that can easily be retuned. $8,000 cheaper that can easily be put back into it to make over 300 HP with ease. The turbo lag is about 5000 rpm below the WRX which is a pleasant surprise. The only thing I don't like is it has 17 in wheels. And the best thing is I still have my 8!

It seems that people are buying Subarus to complement their RX-8's. I'm going out to buy a 350Z. :D

I got the black with spoiler and the dealer tinted the windows for me while I did the paperwork. :)

Manual.....Cloth interior....and the dealer will install a factory sunroof at cost. I am very happy with it and the dealer. I was very surpised with how powerful the boxer engine is w/the turbo!

I was looking at one when I got my STI. They had an a/t Atlantic Blue Pearl one there with spoiler, alarm upgrade, and auto dim mirror (no leather). The msrp was over 28k, and the sale price said $26300. For a moment I thought about tyring to chew them down, but instead I chewed them dowon on sti for $29500. I had to take it. I don't know where you got that 8k thing. I spent $3200 more for getting sti, and I got some extra options included. They didn't have any limited ones there, otherwise I may have been tempted, but those are close to price of the STI. Anyway, it's a very fast luxury/sports sedan, and I know you will love it just as much as I love my sti. :)

My friend just got one,fast and the interior is pretty nice.I'm not crazy on the looks but they have seem to grow on me.Overall i say its a very nice car,i was looking at them today at the dealership.Great engine,congrats!

The 8 will only complement the 350zed ..........in order to complement the 8 you will need to buy an M3!!

I was simply using the sticker for the STI's I saw was 34K and in the end the GT was 26K. Thats all. I didn't take haggling into account.

I understand. The 34k sticker on the sti is with some extra goodies, since the msrp is around 32k on a base model. Base model vs base model there is a 6k difference on 05 model. That was a deciding factor for me in buying the 04 sti. The msrp went up on the 05 model with the addition of some extras that I really didn't want. The good thing is that you can get just as good of deals on the sti now, because the demand has dropped just like it has on rx8. I did like the legacy GT very much, but my youth side just decided to shell out the extra 3k and get the sti. Very nice choice indeed, and it currently makes a great sleeper car due to fact that people don't know just how fast it is. The STI is known, and there's no hiding that I have a monster under the hood. Subaru's are great machines. Best of luck with it. :)

I'm jealous. You have both cars I want. I should be getting a Legacy GT Wagon sometime next year.

I have to say I also Drove the GT its a really awsome car. One of the things that turned me off about the car is that there was no Nav availible and to put one in aftermarket is a major issue because of the placement of the stereo. The car handled great and is quicker than the RX8. The one thing that put the RX over the top is the looks. The RX8 is a great looking car and its a blast to drive. BTW I still have my Subaru SVX for the snow though, and I still love that car too. :)

Maybe I'll get a legacy after my lease is up on this time will tell. The legacy GT is definetly a great car though.

Could be the sales on the Legacy is not a strong as Subaru hoped for.

Actually the sales are quite well.

I've had my RX8 (MT) since July 03, and I recently purchased a 2005 Subaru Outback 2.5XT. It is a perfect companion to my 8. The 8 is my fun car and weekend car. The Outback is my urban commuting (automatic trany), crappy weather and winter car. It is fast (turbo), handles nicely for an almost SUV (it is actually classified as a Light Truck, but handles like a car). It also has a nice sound system (make sure you get the optional subwoofer).

I love both cars and I'm just happy I was able to acquire both.

Looked carefully at the Legacy GT Limited wagon (and corresponding Outback) in September '04 to replace an aging Volvo 850 wagon. I was very impressed with the power and handling and thought that Subaru had made major strides in overall looks and interior design in the last few years.

Ultimately, though, I got a killer deal on a Saab 9-5 wagon that my wife preferred and provided slightly better mileage, near equivalent power, and still more style and interior room than the Subaru provided. WIth the incentives on the Saab, the prices were comparable.

A couple of months later when I decided to replace my aging '94 Prelude, I considered the Subaru sedan. Not as stylish as the wagon, I thought. And the RX-8 pushed buttons for me where the Subaru didn't even know there were buttons.

All in all, I think that if Subaru continues to make progress in styling and design at the current rate, they'll be competitive with the very best Japanese offerings in the next few years and will beat the pants off European competitors in terms of value.

Ive had my 05 legacy wagon for about three months now ,and yup it a great ride .
I planing to get another rx-8 though, around febuary if all go as planned.
I miss my rx-8 too- too much to bear * sniff* :D

In Japan, Subaru *IS* highly competitive with the very best Japanese offerings. You see Legacy sedans and wagons EVERYWHERE. Not to mention the STi and WRX... They sell QUITE well here... especially in snow country and for skiiers.

Hondas? Their car sales in Japan are the pits. You don't even see that many Intergra Type-R's.... much less the over-abundance of Accords like in the US. Honda should be kissing the US' ass in everyway possible, because if it wasn't for the US market, they'd be doing no better than Suzuki.

Suzuki is Japan's 4th largest automaker, behind only toyota, honda, and nissan. So even if Honda were doing no better then Suzuki, they'd still be doing better than Subaru :p
