Bone Stock C6 ZO6 breaks into the 10's
From the Corvette Forum... two records set, but I was floored by the street tire timeslip. Can anybody else think of another car in history that ran 10's off the showroom floor and was produced in quantity?
2 New Z06 Records in 1/4 mile! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A group of local 6speedonliners rented MIR today for a little get together to take advantage of this awesome weather and several guys ran the best ever runs as the track was like Fly Paper and the Air Conditioning was on high!(40 degrees). My goal when I went out today was to try and beat the Pure stock stock tire record which I was able to do! I usually take a couple of cars and I felt it was hampering my driving one to perfection so I only took the Z06 so I could really drive it to its fullest! My Second pass of the day was a 11.08 at 128 followed in order with a 11.11 at 128, 11.02 at 129 and a 10.98 at 129 on the Factory issued Fun Flat tires. I believe this is the first ever 10 sec. run with a bone stock car on the bone stock tires? As the track was hooking so hard I was hesitant to try my drag radials as I was having no issues with traction, (just my technique) but I was actually hot lapping the car to get a feel for my leaves as it was so cold engine temp was not an issue. After I got the (Stock Tire) timeslip validated with a signature from the MIR track owner I put on my drag radials and tried for my best time! Initally I wasn't running any better than with the stock tires because the DR's were cold, but once they came up to temperature they started to make a difference as I was able to run a 10.96 at 130, a 10.92 at 129 and finally a 10.83 at 130 mph! which I believe was caught on video and will posted tonight on UTube. If some one would help me post my time slips I would appreciate it so I can move from 3rd place on the fast list to the top! thanks Here is a video of the drag radial 10.83 run (only gets half the run unfortunately and includes one curse word) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Nt9JwrZv0g |
Who cares? Our cars don't like drags.
(flamesuit on) Ok guys, try your best. |

Just some "General Automotive" information to think about... that's all. |

(flamesuit on) Ok guys, try your best. I did this little video of a buddy's ZO6 (this isn't the car that ran 10's obviously). Here's his dyno when it was bone stock, 338 miles on the clock - ya thats pretty hardcore. He came to our GTO dyno day. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/4...f600019fe0.htm If you can't tell, I hate these cars. :eyetwitch |
That's simply amazing when you consider the overall value of this car...price, handling, amenities, etc. It always blows my mind to think that the Zo6 is the brainchild and product of the same company that's currently offering piles of crap like the Aveo, Uplander, and Trailblazer. I don't get it.

i saw this on autoblog a couple days ago, that guy is one hell of a driver, but also it is one hell of a "stock" car. The lowest I saw in the newstands was high to mid 11's (motortrend, car&driver, etc.) The only other car I can think of is the Z-tune nissan R34 gtr, if i remember that was high 10's as well but i don't think it even counts because it was grossly expensive (+130k) and they only made 500 i believe.

interesting... Z06 vs GTR?

Even with a perfect AWD launch in a new GT-R (is that even possible now with DSG), it doesn't have near the power-to-weight ratio of the 500hp/3100lb Corvette Zo6. That's not to say I wouldn't take the 460hp/3800lb GT-R over the Vette, but no stock car owns the drag strip like the new Vette. Now imagine what the new supercharged blue devil Vette is going to be capabel of running in the 1/4 mile. OMFG!

the lingenfelter corvettes go 0-60 in 1.8 seconds. now thats crazy

The track was so sticky he didn't feel that much difference launching with drag radials as opposed to street tires. And for those that know drag racing, the DA was negative. Those are the great conditions. Do all those things count? Absolutely. Adjusted/unadjusted whatever OMG IT STILL PUT PULLED OFF A 10 SECOND 1/4 MILE. I just think that's nuts.:icon_no2: |
