^^ Pretty wild looking little bugger. If that thing has the turbo engine from the 135i, it's gonna be a barn burner!

I'm warming to the looks, and if they bumped the performance, maybe added a LSD...ummmmmm! (and kept the price down) Good find:)

Is it just me, or do the headlights look kinda large for the car? It looks like someone "goosed" it...otherwise, me likey.

The 335i with the same power train has made 0-60 in 4.9 sec. and 4.8 sec\. by Car and Drive and Road and track respectively, that's faster then the outgoing M3. I'm guessing the 135 will do the same if not better. Strait line performance looks better then the EVO and STI for about the same price, and it is a BMW, corners are yet to be seen.

playdoh43 10-23-2007 10:35 PM

out going E46 could do 4.8, im pretty sure it has a marginally better top end stock too. for the evo VIII, ive seen 0-60 of 4.59 seconds in motortrend's desert shootout article a few years back, i think all these new cars 1/4 mile and 0-60 will be within .5 sec of each other.

Those AWD cars are going to be hard to beat 0-30 and 0-60 just by virtue of power and AWD. Now something RWD, considerably less powerful yet considerably lighter should still have the advantage in the 400m.

I think I read recently that even the 135 is supposed to be in the 33-3400lb range. That seems awfully high for such a small car. Hopefully whatever they introduce as their enthusiast variant keeps the weight down. If so they could have a winner.

http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/23/t...-tii-unveiled/

The 1 Series tii has been lightened (no word on by how much) through the use of carbon fiber on the hood and other trim elements like the rear diffuser insert, mirror covers, gurney flap, and intakes on the front air dam. Both the front and rear bumpers and the side sills are new designs exclusive to the tii. 18" split-spoke wheels take up residence in the corners, and overall, the car has a squat, purposeful look. Inside, BMW covers as many surfaces as possible in black alcantara, with white accents on the seats and steering wheel. Additionally, BMW gives the tachometer top billing in the instrument cluster by making it white-faced. Unfortunately, the concept doesn't come with any details related to its actual performance upgrades. We'll leave it to our guys on the floor to pump Bimmer reps for additional info during the day. Check back for updates, as we'll have plenty of live shots once the car's formally unveiled.

The interior looks really good. I'm still waiting on offical weights from when magazine put them on the scales. Too much confusion with laden, unladen, kerb, curb, etc.

Either way I'd expect a Tii to up the boost a tad and use lighter components maybe dropping a couple hundred pounds.

BMW will have to be careful or this will outperform the new V8 M3. Of course they may be fine with that since the Tii could be positioned as the serious track/sports model of the lineup (and I'm sure an M3 CSL is coming)

tajabaho1 10-24-2007 11:52 AM

omfg, no, that looks fuglier than any of the WRX or new STI, or anything

You are correct, I misread the articles :banghead: they stated .2 sec slower not faster. In regards to the EVO I was referring to the X which did 0-60 in 5.2 secs according to Road and Track (http://www.roadandtrack.com/article....rticle_id=6029) Car and Driver got a 0-60 in 5.0 (http://www.caranddriver.com/previews...en-page3.html). Which they did state is slower by .4 sec then the previous model. Though it was faster around the track.

The 335i coupe weighs in at 3,571, so I assume your assumption on weight may be right on.

the roof looks like a bubble, i dont like it, i cant afford it, so whatever

2tone 10-24-2007 02:54 PM

i think it looks wicked good. the white & black theme is sweet, makes me want to switch from my red & black theme.

yes, the headlights do look to big for the car, especially on the outer edges. they could stand to get some eyelids like our 8's offer.

those SEATS look awesome - they're racing seats, with suede (or alcantara, can't tell), but you notice they still have seat mounted side airbags!! does anyone offer that i the aftermarket or is that completely bmw custom made??

Design1stCode2nd 10-24-2007 03:30 PM

Pretty sure they are recaros, going to cost a bundle though.

Spin9k 10-24-2007 04:19 PM

What a concept! Make a track-ready car with many of the upgrades and mods that anyone would like to do anyway and some very difficult to do aftermarket. Make it affordable (hopefully) give it track-worthy power and sell it as a std line item. Result: enhanced brand reputation as the killer sports car company it is at its heart and soul.

Are you listening Mazda? Prop not....sigh...
