This is about to happen anywhere.

Not long ago around where I live, there was a fatal crash involving a lifted truck. The truck bed crashed into a Camry's windshield rather than the front bumper because it's illegally lifted, and killed the girl in the passenger seat.

Personally, I stay the fuck away from trucks. I know I am generalizing, but just happens that most of them I encounter are dicks especially towards sport cars because we are smaller and sit so low.

I remember that. " the truck bed crashed into the windshield" usually its the cars fault when they hit the bed. My Tacoma is a couple inches up and my 8 is couple inches down so I see both sides.

True that tailgaters are at fault 99% of the time, but getting your skull smashed by a truck bed for tailgating is like the 'good'ld' days when people get their hands cut off for petty theft, especially when in this case, the passenger is the one that got killed.

I have read some comments that say that trucks that are high off the ground from the factory has a piece under the bed that would crash into the tailgater's front bumper before the bed would touch the windshield.

I was rear ended by a woman in a lifted truck when I stopped for a school bus. We got out of our vehicles and she says, "what are you doing, you can't stop that fast I'm in a giant truck." Then she said she thought I was going to run it so she was going to follow.

I should have recorded it on my phone. When I called her insurance company they asked what happened, I told them I stopped for a school bus and she rear ended me. Then they said there would have to be an investigation because her story was different. Her story was that I told the responding officer that I slammed on my brakes for no reason. They would have to send somebody to get the police report and it would take a few weeks, but I could go get a copy and fax it to them right away if I wanted to speed things up. I just called my insurance and they wrote me a check and said I would get my deductible back in 2-4 weeks. I hope her insurance company dropped her.

I think it's called a Mansfield Bar, and I've only seen it in commercial trucks. Calgary has no shortage of lifted mall crawlers, most of them don't even have mud guards.

Man, if that type of enforcement happened here in Colorado, two things would happen:

7 out of every 10 pickup trucks that are not business owned would be removed from the streets.
There would be blood in the streets as the redneck racists revolted, and killed anyone they could get their hands on.

I think its important to remember no matter what the size of the tin can you use on the road we are hurtling ourselves around at speeds the human body was never meant to achieve on it's own. Driving is dangerous period. I agree the removal of hands is excessive for petty theft too. That said, natural selection will find a way. Like jurassic park.

But, it has always been the Road Rules here (Law), that owners can not modify ANY New Built Vehicles or old without it being 'inspected' by State Road Traffic Boards,

Vehicle is put over pits inspected inside and out and must remain in manufacturer spec or you must prove that modifications does not change , emissions, crash safety, etc , etc.

Example if your Tyres are too wide past fender roll your car can be defected by police, where you get the Sticker on Windscreen and must take car back to either Cop Station to get removed once you can show that Vehicle is within specs.. Too wide tyres can throw up debris and stone and hit pedestrians and other cars.

Cars with noisy exhausts, rust, defective lights, bald tyres, get defected.

Last week a local Nissan did a 2 KM burnout on a brand new expressway, was caught on cameras and car was later impounded for 2 weeks, a fine, demerit points, 3rd time car gets crushed.

Man, if cars ever truly started getting failed for rust in various parts of the US, a whole bunch of people wouldn't have cars to drive anymore.

I'm guessing it was one of those Jukes that the commercials showed jumping on trains, and whatnot?.
Maybe it was the Nissan Altima that they convinced passengers that it was a racecar.

Yeah, that dick deserves whatever punishment he gets.
