Audi TT, better than I expected.

I had the chance to drive a friend's "new to him" TT yesterday and I was much more impressed with it than I expected to be. He got an '03 Midnight Blue Quattro roadster. Usually the only TT's you see are silver, but the blue kinda mellows the roundness of the car and makes it look a bit more trim.

The gearbox had a long throw but was smooth and had a good feel. Didn't get the chance to get on a nice crooked road to check out the handling but it felt stable under normal road conditions, and when we ended up in the middle of a road re-construction site and the road was filled with ruts it never rattled or shook me to death. The engine ran up to the 6500 mark quickly and never seemed to be under any stress, and the exhaust note was a little mechanical but deep.

When he let the top down I expected to have problems hearing him or the radio and expected to see a mini tornado form in the cockpit, but it was calm and quiet. Being 5'6" it would be a push for me to have problems with the air coming over the top of the windshield, but my buddy is 6'2" and the wind was barely skimming through his hair. At 50mph, even with the radio turned almost completely silent you could still make out what was playing.

Only problems I have are that the 6disc changer is behind the seat, the trunk is too small for a golf bag, and reverse is left and up.(it took me one extra attempt to get it into reverse for the first time)

All in all I felt it was a good solid car and was well designe and manufactured. For a 55K mile car it didn't rattle or squeek and the only thing that needed to be changed when he bought it was the oil and the brakes. If I ever get the itch for a small 2seat roadster this car would get a serious look now.

Let me know if you've had the chance to drive one and what your feelings are. Also, if you know of any problems with the car so that I can alert my buddy to keep an eye on anything particular.

I drove my friends awd turbo (180hp variant, the year before the 225 awd variant came out) and it was very cool. It handles well, brakes well, and looks great, but my god it was slow. My friend and I actually thought the turbo's weren't working :rofl He took it to the dealership and they told him everything was fine

The interior is gorgeous though, and like i said, aside from the speed, it was a cool car fo sure!

I almost bought a TT before I bought the 8. All in all I am still happy with my choice
