Those that know my wife will agree, she is safe driver, but today she was hit in her VW in a parking lot. While backing out, a Toyota pickup hit the driver's side rear bumper and taillight. What upset me, was the fact that the guy driving the pickup, was driving down the wrong side of the lot. He manuvrered left around an oncoming truck in his lane, and was basically driving like he was in the UK. I will most likley pay to fix the Passat out of pocket to avoid the insurance scam of raising my rates due to this mishap, although I have already paid thousands to protect myself -

Here is a photo. Can you tell if the truck is wide left?

You know that F*****G sucks man but you should file the claim so his rate(s) will go up too.

I don’t understand? Why would you pay out of pocket? I mean it’s obviously his fault therefore he should pay, if he has insurance that is. Back me up here guys.

What was this dumb@ass thinking driving like that? :spank:

Yeah, don't your rates stay the same when you file through the guy's insurance?

Also, looks like he tagged her pretty well judging by how sideways her car is. The kinds of drivers that obtain licenses never cease to amaze me - then the fact that they KEEP those licenses amazes me further. Driving is NOT difficult, yet some people just go that extra mile to make it a freakin' obstacle course.

Makes no difference, Nemesis Ins. will pay for his own car, unless you took him to court and won. Besides I don't see it as his fault as your wife was backing into traffic. sry :(

A few years ago I was backing out of a spot (at night) and was hit by a car who didn't have it's lights on. Yep my fault...according to insurance. It's BS but what isn't when it comes to insurance companies.

Yep - backing into traffic in Washington was her fault - no doubt about. What sucks is that he was way out of his lane, and actually in her lane. I'll talk to my agent on Monday and see what he wants to do. She hit her head on the driver's side window pretty hard, and has a large bump there today.

Thanks guys for the support - it helps.

Same goes for MA. If your backing out of a parking spot and hit someone or someone hits you, your at fault no matter what. Which really does suck for instances like this one Nem. Aparently parkinglots are free for alls at times doesnt matter which side your on. Reason why I always back in now at work. My parkinglot turns into Parkinglot Wars come the Christmas Season.

See what your insurance says if your very good with your agent maybe they can work sumthing out for ya. People are idiots and this isnt her fault just sucks that to the law/insurance companies she is.
