Rx 7 06-07??

Hey guys... guess im about to circulate some more rumors, but it snagged my interest when i heard it so here we go...

I went to my dealer today to set up an appointement for my recall work, and as i was waiting with my salesrep, another buyer asked me if i had owned any previous mazda's/rx's, and since im 17, i said no not likely. first car is the 8. n thus we launched into talk about the rx 7. my dealer, who is the knowledgable type of guy, said so only 2 years now? "2 years, but they're only being released in Europe... suppose to make only 500 or something like that. no u.s. release" (haha i know my story telling skills need work).
Disheartened me to hear that they wont bring the 7 back to the u.s. Hopefully they will decide to produce them after they release in europe... again, may be only rumors... anything to confirm or knock this? either way, itd be good to know...

Dealers are morons and like to make crap up. I think in order to become a car saleman you have to be able to talk out your *** and make it believeable.

When I bought my WRX my salesman told me about the new turbocharged version of the WRX (He was peaking of the STi) that was coming out later in the year. He also told me there were only 500 coming to the US. I promptly pointed to the turboguage on the car I was test driving, told him what it was, and that prettymuch shut him up for the rest of the day. If it wasn't the only white WRX available for over 100 miles I would have walked on principle alone.

I test drive a lot of cars, and every single dealer, saleperson, manager, etc., I speak to has some BS that he has made up, or some little tidbit that he has misconstrued into some idiotic lie.

Yep... Ike is absolutely right.

When I test drove an Rx-8 here in Colorado, the salesman who rode along with me, my dad, and my roommate didn't even know about the "buzz" when you hit the redline... so I just didn't pursue the subject for sake of making him feel like an idiot. So yeah, don't believe that crud.

Being a car salesman is a terrible, thankless and unrewarding job that steals your soul and channels you into the darkest cynical corner of human existance.
That is why only two types of people are car salesmen:
Those who savor taking advantage of people and those who have no other choices left for them to make their way because of their personal limitations (low intelligence, criminal record, financial and moral bankruptcy).

When I went to test drive a RX-8 the salesperson keep taking me over to the Mazdaspeed Proteg'e. I told them that I may look 20 but I'm actually 30 so no thank you. When I finally showed her what a RX-8 was I then asked her how many cylinders it had just for fun. She said she didn't know and would have to go ask someone. I told her that it was ok and I didn't need to know that bad.

When I testdrove the RX-8 the salesperson kept trying to talk me into driving the MSP as well, I didn't quite get it. Maybe they have a better incentive program for the MSP or something <shrugs>

Nothing against salesman, but the majority of them DON'T KNOW CRAP about the auto industry. I get alot of inside info. from my car designer friends. Some work for Honda, some Audi and Porsche. Two of them work at the MAZDA Design Center in Irvine, and even they don't know whats going on. Couple rumors here and there, but they said high profile projects or flagships such as the Rx-7 usually start off and stay in Japan for a large majority of the time. I know the FD was largely designed here (was marketed for CA), but it started in Japan.....came around here...then ended back in Japapn for finalization.

Being a former Mazda salesman I would have to say that not all salespeople are greaseballs. Yes, most salespeople don't know much about cars, but the professional ones do. As for people having no other option than go into sales, most major dealerships now test and some require at least college level qualifications. The day of the slimeball salesguy is coming to an end and the reason behind that is the well researched and informed consumer. Also give the salespeeps a break, most start off at a below poverty level base salary, that only goes up if they can sell 10+ cars per month. Add to that Edmunds.com giving out dealer invoice to the computer literate masses and you have most 1st year salespeeps making about $100 per car after meeting the 10 car minimum. Dealer holdback never goes towards the salesperson, nor does the finance bonus, that goes the business mgr. So like any other profession, you have your good ones and you have your bad ones, but you shouldn't generalize or stereotype.

"(low intelligence, criminal record, financial and moral bankruptcy)"

where I live you can't sell cars with a criminal record i.e. felony. so don't try and explain their kind that way! more- they sell BEFORE they end up getting caught and obtaining a "record"
