Evo IX is marginally faster than the 8?????? :Eyecrazy:
Where did you get this completely misinformed information from?
hopefully out of here :bootyshak

Evo IX stock dynos anywhere between 270-280awhp on the dynojet. What does stock rx8 dyno on the typical dynojet? 170-180rwhp. Considering the fact that awd system have more drivetrain loss, its actually more than 315hp to the crank.

look at the potential of the evo ix.

From having experience in both cars,
I can tell you one thing for sure.
Even greddy turboed rx8 will have very hard time hanging with stock 06 evo9, much less stock rx8 will be crucially murdered. :nono:

evo at 280 whp stock ololololooooooolololololololololololololololololol ol then my friend has a mr dud hes was at 223whp stock on a dyno jet

toca 12-26-2005 03:27 PM

oh yeah by the way my rx8 ran 14.581 and 96 stock at cal speedway ill look for my slip tonight this for the guy that said he never seen a rx8 run faster then 15.1

iirc, that same episode has the evo being beat by a fiat (or something similar) when off boost, under acceleration. everything is relative

what year mr was it?
That's awefully a low dyno number for an 06 evo mr.

03-04 evo's been dynoing around 220-230whp on dynojet
05 evo's been dynoing around 250whp on dynojet
06 evo's been dynoing around 270-280whp on dynojet

This information is all over the www.evolutionm.net with dynosheets.
I already included a dyno on the first sheet and that was from mbc, intake and tune. You don't think its true that 06 evo mrs dyno 270whp stock?

maybe i should get mine dynoed before i put on my TBE on then.

such an impressive number!! :ylsuper:
I would brag about it all day and all night long.
There are just so many low 13sec 06 evo mr on the board that 03 ish evo turning in high 13sec isn't so impressive anymore.. :hahano:

uhh you didnt answer my question. i didnt ask about the tuning potential of EVO IX relative to EVO VIII, you havnt shown me dyno chart of stock EVO IX making 270-280whp.

Steiner 12-26-2005 05:49 PM

Evilbada...I think you've learned your first lesson of Evo ownership. Discussing this car in other car forums can bring out anger, jealousy and immaturity from lesser human beings.

Here is a great thread on EvoM between a couple of very succesfull and highly respected tuners.

http://forums.evolutionm.net/showthr...highlight=dyno

This dyno chart posted at the beginning is for the Evo IX I mentioned in post #45 of this thread. The Mustang dyno at Gruppe-S is very conservative. A friend of mine put down 260whp on their dyno and a week later, with the same mods and same tune, put down 308whp on a Dynajet dyno.

Yes it is all relative. Try running the RX-8 out of its sweet spot, say only to 5000 RPM's. Why would your run/race a EVO out of boost, same thing goes for running a RX-8 without running it in its sweet spot(up to 9K).

You don't need snow to ride a bike. Can have fun on the bike most of the year. just need some road. Your snowmobile proves it's all relative. Just like my slow VTX cruiser will kick the evo's butt. There's always something faster. You must be a wine-o carring 2 cases of wine around. When cold or snow I drive the 8. It's as much fun as anything. It moves out just fine for me. Noone has made fun of my wanna be Harley yet because stock it's bigger and badder than most cruisers. We are a big happy family in harley land Milwaukee. We like our bikes and pickup trucks. No use for a Kiddie car(Evo) in these parts. I would get laughed at driving one of those. They're for the fast and furious youth somewhere in california.

I rarely go above 80mph either. Its not a matter of going fast. Its the rate of acceleration that determines fun factor for me. Maybe you are old and in the mid of lifecrisis. Have you ever heard about a man who owned rx8, ferrari, porsche, and evo
and he said he liked evo the best? It was on one of the superstreet magazines I believe.

The kind of people that would laugh at you for driving an Evo are already chuckling inside when you drive by in your RX-8? It's a "kiddie" car too you know. I don't live my life through other people's eyes though, so maybe you know more about this kind of stuff than me. :mdrmed:

Some of those comments border on pure ignorant! I said it before, the Evo owners range all over the spectrum in ages! Fast and Furious crowd? Not necessarilly true. The Evo and the STI had a following before the Fast and Furious showed up especially considering the Evo showed up in '92. Some people followed them the same as people follow cars such as the Skyline. They knew of it's existence in Japan and in other markets and as soon as Mitsubishi hinted that they were going to bring it to the U.S. they put their names on waiting lists. What in the world does that have to do with The Fast and the Furious? That is being a car enthusiast! The Evo and STI give near supercar or exotic performance within the reach of the average individual. It has very little if anything to do with this movie that everybody likes to blame for the love people have for the car. Please stop insulting the people who enjoy the Evo and STI!

why would you run/race a turbo econobox against a 6 figure exotic? i wasn't dissin anyone or trash-talkin the evo, that's what they did and that's what happened.

see for yourself....http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...133899&q=fq400

Steiner 12-26-2005 11:17 PM

They put an Evo FQ400 in 6th gear at 30mph and raced it against a Fiat rental car. It was designed to show what happens when you have a big turbo on a little motor and get into the wrong gear. It was for entertainment purposes only. Top Gear loves to find things to pick on about each and every car...the Evo FQ400 was no exception.

Comparing n/a cars to fi'ed cars is stupid. This thread is going nowhere, I sense a thread lock in a day or so. Anytime someone brings up buying another car in any forum always ends up in an all out flame war.

When I was shopping for cars I compared n/a cars vs. forced induction vs. 4 cyl vs.6cyl vs. 8 cyl vs rotary. Hate to tell you, people and magazines do it all the friggen time. Just take a look at Road and Track, Car and Driver, Edmunds, etc... Hell take a look around the forums right here, how many times have we seen a post that starts with the poster saying they are comparing a 350z to a RX-8.

You apparently do not care what other people think of you or you would buy an rx8 instead of a kiddie subcompact. The rx8 looks alot different and appeals to more mature tastes. Your out of touch if you think not.

Well I got news for you, true I'm not 16yrs like you but the rx8 thrills me just fine on acceleration without the whiplash effect. If I want an ammusement ride thrill like the Evo I'll go to Great America on the roller coaster. It's cheaper.

Sephiroth 12-27-2005 08:07 AM

You know, i wonder about the upkeep on the evo and sti. With 3 differentials, awd, and a turbo. Rubber will run out on ya like crazy. Then you start modding and all hell breaks loose. As it is the warranties are being denied left and right because of all the street racers doing 5k clutch drops. IIRC the JDM Evos have the AYC, do the US Evos have that yet?

Realistically, what is the upkeep on those cars?

Those comments are'nt ignorant, your just in denial. All the cars in that movie are tuner legends including the rx7. The movie did more harm than good for those cars. Now I think of them as Jap tuners fom Fast and Furious and a bunch of little hip hop pretty boys driving them out of control, while thier hot little girl friends sleep with the one that wins. How dumb is that. The Evo is a nice car, I just do not like the looks or the fact that it is a 4 cylinder and has a turbo. Any thing with high hp will attract mass enthusiasm. That does not make you an enthusiast. I just do not think it's unique like the rx8. It's not a traditional sportscar. It's a cheap trick and a good thrill. That's all.

Roaddemon 12-27-2005 08:51 AM

Ask this question. Would you buy one used knowing how they beat the piss out of it? The upkeep will no doubt be high because of that.

OK ELARA, YOU CAN CLOSE THIS THREAD. I'M DONE WITH IT.

Tirminyl 12-27-2005 09:30 AM

If your done with it, then don't come back or contribute anymore asinine posts. Trying to relate a whole history of cars to 1 movie franchise is idiotic to say the least. I am glad Mitsu and Subaru started their cheap tricks over 10 years ago or else we wouldn't have any fast and furious jap tuner non traditional sports cars such as the EVO and STI. Get off it.
