8's hate plates we all know it

Front licence plates, IMO completely wreck the front end of the rx-8, I've looked into mounting brackets that are sleek, right to re-positioned front right bumper brackets, and I came up with this.

Here in Ontario we have them completely manditory. I have tested this setup for quite some time, and I have been yet to be hasseled, (because I wrote this I will be tommorrow).

I have found a way to attach the front plate, yes it is now bent, and resembles a European plate, but the eye sore is now gone.

Tell me what you think?

I've had this setup for months.

P.s. the photo is only my profile, I honestly cannot find anything that will shrink my 875kb files to the maximum 250kb

looks weird there..

"Evo" style looks just as bad. Front plates are mandatory in CA too, but I never keep them on and I've never gotten pulled over.

Why not just keep it up against your front windshield? Take it down and throw it in the glove box when you're showing it off / snapping photos?

Because it looks terrible and it's not legal.

laythor 07-25-2008 02:12 AM

run plateless and just put it on just long enough to get any fix it tickets signed off.

CyberPitz 07-25-2008 06:56 PM

We need plates, but i just put it in my window. It does the job while keeping my front end sexy.

Socket7 07-25-2008 07:18 PM

Just risk the fix it ticket if it bothers you that much.

Brettus 07-25-2008 07:47 PM

what about getting a sticker made and putting it where the mazda emblem is just below the bonnet line .
Some old sports cars with the very slanted noses had that .

CyberPitz 07-26-2008 09:44 AM

I just think having a front plate is a ridiculous law. Alas, what are you gonna do to change it? *becomes a state official*

kersh4w 07-26-2008 04:06 PM

yeah, i emailed every in office in maryland about it. saying its stupid and doesnt make sense.

no reason for it. i'd actually like for one person to give me 5 good reasons for it.

Brettus 07-26-2008 05:21 PM

well here in nz you wouldn't last 5 mins without one . I found it increadible that you guys get away with not having one .
I can't think of 5 good reasons but I'm sure if I asked the police , they would give me some ;)

It's thought to pic out a car with now plates with a few thousand other cars on the same road here in the states. It's especially less noticeable when a stylized car like the 8 doesn't have one.
