I get so tired of people that refer to sport compacts as "the fast and the furious" I was into this type of thing 10 years before the movie.

Oh well I guess I shouldn't be mad, I get paid by several companies just to take my vehicles to events. Not to mention that they give me free product. I guess it pays to be obnoxious.

I wouldn't put Motegis on my car if they were free, I just can't stand them. But to each their own, and there are certainly a lot of people out there that will like your car. I'm a former first gen. DSM owner and I hate what Mitsubishi did to the Eclipse, so that may explain why I dislike the new Eclipse the way I do. They took a car with a great performance value with a ton of potential and turned it into something that will be cross shopped with a Grand Am.

they dont have the money to do it.

p.s. i think the concept shown earlier is decent looking but having not seen a pic from the back i am not sure. it looks to me like it might have a rear that looks like the 350z and from me that is not a compliment.

The 04 Galant GTS has the same underrated 3.8 liter motor and get's 6.7 sec 0-60 times at 3650 lbs. If this motor is in a car 650 lbs lighter, it should be pretty quick. And DreRX8, the 04 Galant platforms arent garbage. It's just as good if not better then any mid-priced sedan in it's competition.

I'll admit that I don't like that they dropped the 4cyl turbo platform. I have had them since they were Starions. They just changed the car to fit a broader range of customer.

As for Motegi, just wait, they have quite a few surprises for you. They will no longer be known as the company that doesn't make rear wheel drive rims.

It will be nothing more than a sporty coupe; styling will be its selling point. Think current Eclipse with 20 extra HP and some silly mitsu design. Mitsubishi is seriously listing to one side right now--they need some decent projects besides the EVO to come down the pipeline. Bring back the 2G Eclipse
Performance? Well I dont know about that, but HP yes. Seen one 3G get up to 400hp and live to kill about it.

The new Galants are hideous--the road tests I saw on the Galant with the V6 were in the mid 7s--do you have a link to the 6.7? All the reviews I read on the Galants were negative, why would you buy this car over a comparable Altima, Accord, Camry, or any of the other offerings? If you like the styling then maybe--but its a hard sell. It is my understanding that they aren't selling well anyway. Like I said-and like it has been reported--Mitsubishi is in serious trouble with their product offering.

Well My choice was actually the 6s or Altima I but couldn't quite afford them. I was able to get the GTS at $24,000 out the door. I test drove these cars a lot and found the GTS to drive as good as the others. The handling is very good for it weight disadvantage and the torque and acceleration is better. See Edmunds Mid priced sedan review and Motor Trend and Consumer Guide, for the stats. Yes some elements are cheap looking but well worth the money. If there were no discounts on the car I would have definitely bought the Altima or Mazda 6s without question. It was one of the few cars I could afford after having to get rid of my RX8 due to my back injury.

There is no way the acceleration is better on the Gallant, the Altima 3.5 is faster than the RX-8 in most situations in a straight line, and the 6S is no slouch either.

Ike, read Edmunds mid-priced sedan comparo test. The Galant is not faster than the Altima 3.5 manual, that's for sure. but in the 0-60 and 1/4 mile the Galant was tied at 0-60 and was a few mph faster in the 1/4th in comparison with the Altima 3.5 AUTO, this tells me that the H.P. is underrated due to this car being 400 lbs heavier, it could also have something to do with the suspension set-up putting more weight over the front wheels for better traction. Hey, I'm not arguing that this is a great car, but I was just letting the other guy know that the Galant platform wasn't a piece of trash either. Sure I would have loved to get the other cars, but when looking for a large sedan with and auto and nice features, the Galant was one of the few I could afford with the long term financing and the assurance of a long warranty. I wish my left leg and lower back wasn't causing me so much pain or I would have kept the damn car and not lost so much money to begin with, but my health is more important.

You picked a great car, Jim. I don't care what people say, I think the Galant looks WAY better than any CamCordima. And I love how it's heavier than all 3, but still outhandles and outbrakes them, and is just as quick.

JimW--I feel what you are saying, especially if it comes down to $$ (that's why I have an A/T RX8 and not 6spd)--not trying to offend you; Mitsubishi is just going to have to come harder though in order to survive. And I'm apt to agree with you on the Altima 3.5 Auto times being a couple of ticks slower. One actually ran up on me and I edged him out once we were at speed (of course he got me off the line).

Thanks for the positive feedback guy's I really needed that. The RX8 was picked up by it's new owner last night, expedited because of Francis. You want to talk about depression! I was sad to watch it pull away, actually waving goodbye to a car? My neighbor was with me after helping him put up shutters, he was offering positive reinforcement, telling me what a good car for the $$$ the Galant is as we were watching the RX8 move on down the road. I knew that there is absolutely no comparison, it's like a Sentra and a Porche 911 with extra seats and doors and a really smooth ride. Hopefully if my situation ever improves I can think about a rotary vehicle once again, maybe one with a supercharger?

Maybe it's just me....

Maybe it's just me, but the 'spyshots' look like a cross between Hannibal Lecter at the airport and Patrick Ewing... observe...

Ha, Ha, Ha. Your right. The Shrinks are going to start using it in picture matching. And if you don't see Hanibal Lector and Patrick Ewing, It's off to Belview you go.
