2013 Mazda CX-9,(face-lift) Global Debut In Australia
Could easily tell they just slapped on new lights and a bumper cover. Very well executed in my opinion. The swoop under the headlight projector integrates the Kodo design nicely while keeping revised parts to a low. Almost like cheating.
I wonder what the rear looks like.

I think it adds some elegance and aggressive character at the same time. I wish I knew what they plan to do with it long term. I'm not sure how they will replace the V6 or if they will continue to purchase from Ford in the future.

looks pretty good, I'm sure the front end will grow on me.
Paul, I too am curious as to what the plans are for the CX-9 in the coming years given the current engine and move towards SA.

I like your comment. I do see some Infiniti and even some Volvo in this machine. That is number one goal accomplished in terms of freshening it up to join the Kodo design family and making it more elegant at the same time.

i think Volvo developed the chassis when everyone was still under the ford umbrella.
I've been thinking this for awhile and i really believe the way to go for this CX-9 and for the Ford Flex is to go hybrid.
That Ford doesnt already make a hybrid Flex is really perplexing to me. Imagine that big family people hauler with twice the gas mileage?
Mazda needs the CX-9 in the line-up . It sells well here and gets great reviews. Now imagine if they also sold a hybrid option of it that doubled is fuel mileage? They have an agreement with Toyota right? Mazda to license hybrid technology from Toyota
the first shot with Hybrid Sky Active should be right in this large family hauler segment not in the crowded mid size segment. It would make a much bigger statement especially if they had a plug in version- there's plenty of room in this size vehicle for everything.

This CX-9 looks way better than originals, I have never particularly liked the large 'double' grille look (also CX-7), this update is a huge improvement.
BTW: Mazda have made/sold more CX-9's than RX-8's, not that we can compare.
