Eh??
|
So I will wait 3 years and buy that one for the same amount as my car cost...
|
sounds like many unconfirmed items listed in an article with a title confirmed...

That's a nice design, but it has no basis in reality. Most of us think the 16x is more like 280-300 hp. If it's a 2+2, it is an RX-8, regardless of what they call it. If it's a 2-seater it's a home run IMHO. It all depends on the price of gas. |
Now we wait for three years to see what happens. Thats about the time I'll be looking for a new RX-8 or what ever they have.
|
Sooo, its kinda a mix of a 7 and an 8...
I like how they said if its a 7 the 8's days are numbered... Less 8's, fine with me.. Make it more unique. |
why do they always have to write these with such a *storied* tone, makes it feel like fiction. but reading to the end it kinda makes sense, to replace the 8 w/ a traditional 2+2. the kabura, after all, was a very attractive design and it'd be a shame (and a bit strange) to totally scrap it
and looks like we can expect the z to keep getting uglier and uglier |
Ahh who knows what could happen before then, emission laws could change and make the rotary extremely hard to produce
|
I believe there was an interview with the Mazda head honcho about RX cars and he said firmly that Mazda will continue with the RX-8 and has no plans to bring back the RX-7.
|
Why would they bring back the RX-7, that time is gone and now we are RX-8. After 8 comes 9 then, right? lol
|
I hope whatever they make that they don't called it a RX-7. Obviously if they go through with it, it would be for sales. Traditionally they have never gone backwards on any RX.

200- 250 bhp? :'(.
Was hoping more around 300 bhp. |
it looks like an elongated and squashed furai
|
200-250hp??? It hope its around the same weight as a Miata, or its going to fall short of all the competition.

This seems to be in line with past Mazda practices. For those that remember the 1st gen RX-7 was revamped with a special version (GSL-SE) in its final 2 years of production, 1984 + 85 which included the 13B engine.
Then in 86 they introduced the 2nd gen with a 13B. Sounds like a repeat 25 years later.. Different version of the RX-8 in its final 2 years, 2009 +10, then in 2011 they re-introduce it as a new model. My guess is Mazda will name it the RX-8, especially if they keep with the 2+2 concept. |
I've been reading car mags for years. A lot of these "sources" put out all kinds of stories about cars that never come to fruition. It's worse now that these things can be photoshopped, chopped, sliced and diced. In the old days, there were "artist's conceptions" usually by the brilliant Mark Stehrenberger. He drew plenty of cars that never even made it into clay.
While I don't doubt the RX-8's "days are numbered"- I hardly expect them to keep building it forever- this article really tells you nothing. |
That is one ugly ass design.
