2010 Mustang Convertible Review

So I decided to rent a new 2010 stang in Hawaii for the honeymoon (when in Rome right?). Got a brand new red convertible with like 2,xxx miles on it and the upgraded sound system. I was real curious to see how the new platform upgrades (especially the handling, ride quality, stiffness etc....) compared to the previous stang.

I was quite impressed with the car overall. Even on the 16'' wheels, the car handled the mountain curves well without feeling nervous at a variety of speeds. I really liked the steering weight and feel, which was damn near perfect. I never noticed the live axle in a variety of driving conditions. While the car feels big, it still manages to drive with a decent amount of precision. I didn't think the suspension was to floaty compared to past stangs I've driven. I've heard the sport package on this car is pretty amazing, I'll have to drive one some time to compare.

This car had the crappy old V6 engine, so it wasn't a dragster but it wasn't slow either. the slushbox in the new cars is quite good and gets the power down quickly.

overall, if you want to rent a "fun" car, its not a bad drive, especially in places with a view. For 350 clams for the week, it was well worth the money.

Blasphemy. Calling Mustang steering weight and balance "damn near perfect" and not bashing a live-rear-axle. :D

I want to drive a 2011 Coyote-equipped GT with a track pack, and see what's up. I have a feeling that car is going to surprise the hell out of lot of "purists".

If you the 2010 was good the 2011 should be great. As you said, you couldn't tell it was live axle. The large majority of of Mustang owners will never be able to tell the difference. Better Ford put money in the engine and the interior where differences are more apparent.

Better than a Sebring convertible!
