i have to agree... car & driver rated it best when compared to the new STI and GTI.

I have driven the new STi and WRX and was not that impressed. I want to drive the new Evo just to compare though.

I like the STI a lot, but just can't get over the wagon look. Doesn't quite do it for me. I think it does look better in person though, and you can't argue about the utility. After testing both the STI and EVO back to back, I liked the rawness of the EVO better.

Yeah I tested both back to back and felt that the Si drive feature on the STi did not do much and was unnecessary. The Evo usually has better tuning potential also, even though the engine is new this time. Great power coming out of bolt ons..

And the price of the Evo MR + tech package is $40k+. May not apply to anyone here, but that is a lot of coin for a car with such high insurance rates and maintenance costs.

I would personally pass on the tech package. All you get for $2000 is a factory navi and hard drive to store MP3s on. I'll bring along a garmon and plug an ipod into the stereo thank you. I would definately take the Sight, Sound and Spoiler Package for $2000 though. That gives you the 650 watt Rockford Fosgate stereo, hi wing spoiler, and HIDs.

I sold my Mazda 3 Automatic and bought a 2005 Evolution 8. My insurance went up less than $20 a month. As for maintenance, as long as you don't blow the transfer case or melt your clutch trying to do AWD launches, it shouldn't cost any more to maintain than an RX8.

But my favorite part is the power when the turbo kicks in. Even driving it around town and boosting all over the place I'm still averaging like 20 to 21 MPG. Cruise on the highway and I can get even more.

Now the new 2008 Evolution is really nice because it has the active yaw control which means it actually puts more power to the outside wheel during a turn to help you rotate. Only downside is that the car is much heavier than the previous versions. But a few basic bolt-ons (intake / exhaust), a manual boot controller, and a tune can get it up to about 400 to the wheels and you're good to go!!

That may be my next purchase if the GTR remains out of my financial reach in 5 years from now. Either that or an E85 hybrid.. right? hahah. $8 a gallon for premium? No thanks.

Too bad they don't drive like a nice car. Still sheep interior.

People who buy evos dont buy em for interior quality...:banghead: Besides the X has a pretty decent interior compared to the previous gen ones. Its not as bad as some say....Id take it over an American cars interior (besides the 300c).

This is another car that looks very "meh" in pictures but looks amazing in the flesh.

The new evoX is definitley a good looking car only in the front.... the back of the car is ehhhh.. still looks a bit too wierd to me to like the back. the taillights used on the X is exactly the same as they use on regular lancers... should've changeda arounda bit. but for the most part its a good hefty raw package.~

if i was to choose a color on the evoX, it would DEFINITLEY be the WHITE one~~ DAMN HOT!
