2006 Dodge Charger

It's coming soon...It's gonna be one powerful S.O.B. designs are still in prototype but it's basically a dodge magnum without the Wagon part, There are many differant versions and the most powerful is a 426HP Hemi 6.4L V-8. IS THAT INSANE OR WHAT???!!! Read it in a Car & Driver mag today. about to go to thier website to check it out.

I'm sorry I just read the articleagain , the 6.1L Hemi V-8 with 425HP will be the Chrysler 300C SRT-8. The charger is 5.7L Hemi V-8 340HP.

Mugatu 10-15-2004 05:53 PM

it looks like a HUGE car. like you said, essentially a Magnum without the hatch. a little too large for my liking.

zoom44 10-15-2004 07:10 PM

isnt a magnum with no hatch just a 300c? i suppose i should follow the link......

zoom44 10-15-2004 07:14 PM

well zoom you're right it is!

BlueEyes 10-15-2004 07:26 PM

That is ultra weak. You want to bring back a name like the charger you bring it back with some purpose. Dont just give the 300c a dodge facelift. FOR SHAME! I would rather they put some time into it, and made a mustang GT competitor. This is just a typical yankee bloated car with displacement instead of inginuity as it's claim to fame.

BaronVonBigmeat 10-16-2004 11:06 AM

The original Charger was a pretty big car, so it's okay that this one is too...but it would be better if it were:

* a 2-door
or
* a "disguised" 4-door (see the original Charger concept before Chrysler was bought out by the Krauts)
or
*not an obviously riced-out 300C (a car I like btw)
or
*at least not so butt-freakin-ugly, it has such a big honking pig-snout in that illustration, ugh.

Or go ahead and sell this eyesore, but just call it "Intrepid".

What they really need to do is bring back a Barracuda that's worthy of the name.

VelociRedBeast 10-16-2004 12:28 PM

remember guys, the looks are still under design, I think people should E-mail dodge before they decide on a final body style.

I am really not liking the way Dodge is taking their new vehicles. Chrysler and Dodge are just too hand in hand right now. Also, I am getting tired of the whole "hemi" craze. I read somewhere that the new "Hemi" engines don't even have hemispherical heads, they are pentagonal. If this is true, why do they even deserve to be called a "hemi" then?

truemagellen 10-16-2004 12:59 PM

so the coffin car is losing the coffin?

dodge and cadillac running down the same g-d aweful boxy path...this is the future, aerodynamics are cool I thought?

shorty911 10-16-2004 05:00 PM

The previous design for the new charger is alot nicer imo

^^^ Yes, THAT is what Chrysler should be building. It's a bigass four door car, but you wouldn't really think it at first glance.

Well if we really want to be literalists, the original Hemi wasn't a "true" Hemi. Meaning it wasn't a perfect sphere cut in half type of shape. Basically it seems that "Hemi" has grown to mean "opposed valve pushrod engine". As opposed to the side-by-side pushrod LS1, or the opposed valve Ford modular engines. "Hemi" is one syllable though. ;) And to be really accurate, rotary engines are not, in fact, rotary. A more accurate term would probably be "orbital".

Ok. So its a Magnum w/o the big ass!! I agree w/ Shorty....the original concept looked better.

here's one more - I for one LOVE this concept.

foxman 10-17-2004 12:19 AM

That concept is fantastic, love the smooth and rounded lines, so much better than just rebadging the 300c.

truemagellen 10-17-2004 01:51 AM

I bet the concept was tanked so it wouldn't compete with that POS crossfire

philodox 10-17-2004 06:08 AM

sorry, but i think it's ugly.. it's almost.. almost as if they were trying to unsuccesfully rip-off the C6's body style....

That car was from 1999 so I don't think the C6 had anything to do with its design. Personally, I love that concept car.

wakeech 10-18-2004 12:19 AM

i dunno, i think they're betraying some of the greatest lines that made The Charger a Charger (and a muscle car a muscle car... big black grille from headlight to headlight, long ass hood, sweeping fast back, aggressive forward rake of the nose, etc etc)

As I read that I could hear Tim Allen's Grunt in the back of my mind.

Yes, yes...and we all know the original designer was a huge fan of aerodynamics. (unfortunately, he didn’t have a clue about aerodynamics) I like the concept design better, but I think they should be able to find a happy medium between the original design and this concept. I’d like to see the long sloping rear glass, the center counsel that runs the whole length, a big hood, some sort of flip style headlights. I think they can modernize the old design, shrink it down a little…maybe do a 4 door like the RX-8.

diabolical1 10-24-2004 09:23 AM

i figured it was just a matter of time before they tarnished another classic name, except that this is the second time they've done it to the Charger, which by the way, the 1968-70 (?) models stood as the ONLY chrysler i'd ever buy willingly. :( And no ... I do not want to build a General Lee replica ...

Murray16 10-24-2004 10:38 PM

Oh great. I thought the 300C was actually pretty cool the first few times I saw it. That quickly wore off. I see them everywhere now.
