I just wanted to know what people thought about the new GT3, I think it is one amazeing peice of engineering.

velociti 01-10-2007 08:23 AM

tis. not as attractive as the old one, though, if i may say so myself.

N rider89 01-10-2007 07:32 PM

its pretty nice

darkempire83 01-10-2007 07:48 PM

It is indeed an engineering feat. 415 hp from a NA 3.6 inline 6, for 115 hp/liter. 0-60 in 4.1. And, it now has such things as power windows and doors. However, its probably still too punishing of a ride for daily use. And that wing is not getting any better looking.

I agree. And the GT3 RS even more so. A link for the unfamiliar:

07 GT3 RS

Simply amazing car and a bargain from Porsche.

Its a Flat/Boxer 6. Also isn't it 3.8L now?

apc_monk 01-13-2007 10:53 PM

I would give various internal and external body organs for either one.

Hightshoe 01-14-2007 11:16 AM

I'd take the 911 Turbo over GT3. It produces 460 lb.'ft of torque at less than 2000 rpm!

ROCKSTAR RX8 01-14-2007 03:05 PM

a GT3 is a true driver's car... car is tuned to be race ready.. even tho the turbo has more power but the fun the GT3'd give u is unbeatable..

For Six 02-08-2007 07:54 PM

^YES! The GT3 is definitely a truer car and driver symbiosis over the TT.

The GT3 is still a 3.6. The regular 911 has a 3.8L, and it has an option to bump that engine up to 381hp, as much as the 996 GT3 but with more torque. Cool option to have, but it costs almost $17000 IIRC :Eyecrazy: The GT3 is definitely the purest driver's car of the 911 line. It's too bad they don't do something like that with the Cayman, one of those with enough power to run with a Corvette would be an absolutely amazing vehicle.

playdoh43 02-08-2007 09:36 PM

a lil too hardcore for me, you better be the type that goes to the track every week to take advantage of it.

BigRed 02-08-2007 09:50 PM

may i go a step further thaN the gts rs? Ruf RGT. My neighbor/best family friend owns the shop in dallas called Ruf Autocentre. Now that is a piece of art. If you type in "Ruf dallas" on youtube, his car is the lime-ish green car. Although, the GT3 still kicks some serious butt.

Renesis_8 02-08-2007 11:43 PM

i've always loved how porsche is able to squeeze SO Much out of their engines! i'd choose GT3 over the turbo....... but that variable geometry turbo make some serious power!

its just too bad that the porsche engines are in the wrong place of the car...

love the GT3.
997 GT3RS (orange/blk version) > 997 GT3 > 996 GT3... ;-)

although i'd happy with a 993TT. (cant stand the werid looking 996 headlights)

Fanman 02-09-2007 12:04 AM

They actually have PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management) which can be set to Normal & Sport. From what I heard on Normal setting it is suprisingly livable as an everyday car, much more so than the previous 996 GT3, and with the Sport mode it is still brutally fast on the track. Overall this is one of the most desirable cars (to me) ever made.

RazzyBRX-8 02-09-2007 12:23 AM

That gauge set-up looks all too familiar.

....Sorry, couldn't help it.

I'm going to get one some time in my life. I swear to myself, I am.

EDIT: That gauge set-up comment was a joke. Just to let you guys know.

That 911 GT3 RS is my dream car. I'd gladly take the regular GT3 too, but I say the RS because I want the green one!...or orange 2nd. I'd do anything just to test drive one.

2007 GT3 dyno on dynojet:

I think we'll be seeing numbers close to that on our renesis by the end of the year. We already see 360 whp on pump gas without pushing it too far.

If there was ever a car I was totally in love with besides my 8, this is it.:hitit: :smoker:

FloppinNachos 02-29-2008 10:19 PM

do they still have the engine in the trunk...

Porsche's done pretty good trying to perfect a flawed design :)

If only we could say the same thing about Mazda and the Wankel :cwm27:

911SC 03-01-2008 07:28 AM

Yeah, that "flawed designed, engine in the wrong place" has lead them to the most racing victorys of any marque from Le Mans to Dakar. Imagine if they made a car with the engine in the front with 50/50 weight dist. Oh wait, they did. The 928. Where is that perfect design now?:)
