*NEW* 2009 Hyundai Genesis-based coupe UNDISGUISED!

Check the link out... it was taken at a group study for competitors...

Look at what car is behind in the background hehehehe

Rhawb 11-08-2007 10:58 PM

Looks almost identical to the previous Tiburon...

https://cache.jalopnik.com/assets/re...tiburon_08.jpg

...and if that thing with the curved down headlights is a new Tibby...ouch. That concept was awesome, that thing is...bleh.

Though, the front end is pretty much identical to the current Tiburon, aside from the headlights. Maybe it's just a focus group thing.

dupa12345 11-08-2007 11:07 PM

looks the same except for the mercury like front bumper

c0ldf1ame 11-08-2007 11:10 PM

Enough with the stupid 5 spoke wheels...

It looks fine, but nothing special. I thought Hyundai was going to attempt to seperate themselves in the design department with this one, but it's just got too much of a Accord Coupe and G35 feel to it. I don't think it looks much like the previous car, which is a shame IMO because I thought it was a very nice design when it came out.

playdoh43 11-08-2007 11:32 PM

wow this thing looks really good.

Yeah, Hyundai needs to do something bold, lest they get lost in the shuffle. This new Tiburon, and the 2(?) prior revisions have just been too bland and derivative to stand up to modern offerings. It looks generic and forgettable - in the sports car market, that will lose the market share for you right there.

Isn't this one supposed to be RWD?

Not bad--definite styling improvement. Nice to see an 8 in the pics!

nt5k 11-10-2007 01:34 AM

Too boring, too heavy (3450lbs) and they are using the Mustang as a target vehicle? That can't possibly be a good sign. Will Mazda just release the Kabura already and shut these people up?

NotAPreppie 11-11-2007 09:19 AM

Methinks I see some Eclipse in the rear...

Not a bad design but nothing to write home about, either.

restiller 11-11-2007 09:38 AM

the only thing that stood out for me was the rear side window, definitely adds character. looks good to me, but nothing i'd be going gaga over.

imput1234 11-11-2007 10:21 AM

I looks sharper and more defined than the older one

lesper4 11-11-2007 10:59 AM

i think it looks like the new altima coupe and a new eclipse

yes!! typical hyundai -- just copy other cars' design and slap your badge on it. that thing looks most like the new altima coupe (which is hideous by the way), add in a little g35 and honda accord coupe and what do you have?? the new tiburon...nice :banghead:

tajabaho1 11-11-2007 05:12 PM

a drunk g35 went ahead and fucked an eclipse

Yeah, what business sense is there in wanting to target an iconic muscle car that's been around for 40+ years which continues to outsell all it's competitors year after year? Maybe they should target a car that sells 1 for every 20 Mustangs sold instead, like the RX8

Maybe the RX8 is the target vehicle? Why is the RX8 the only non-silver vehicle?

Normally these focus groups are answering apples vs oranges comparisons on only small parts of the overall picture. It is much cheaper to use an existing product than to mock up using the feature in a prototype.

If you want to know the target vehicle then look at the target audience making up the focus group. 25% young blonde females?

bascho 11-13-2007 01:59 PM

Most likely they are using lots of vehicles for inspiration.......everyone knows originality is not Hyundai's strong suit. I'm sure they would like to capture some of the beauty and grace of the RX8 while tapping the raw masculinity and high sales volume of the Mustang.
