$50 car roll on paint job
 

So ive been messing around restoring my old high school beater, a 72 chevy nova which caught fire in the parking lot my senior year. My goal hasnt been to make it show room perfect, just to make it drivable and look nice from 10 foot away. After rewiring the car headlight to tail light, upgrading the engine some and getting it running I started playing around with the body and saw this $50 roll on paint job floating around and decided to try it. Here are the results:

Not bad, mission accomplished for $50.

Eventually you should do a full restoration on that car if it's in good shape.
Novas are pretty nice cars.

What is a roll on paint job? I'm not familiar with that term.

Using a house paint roller, meant for walls, to paint your car. It's sometimes used on bottom paint for cruising/fishing boats where you have to cover a large surface, yet the paint is too thick to spray on easily.

At least you did a good job with prep and sanding. That makes all the difference when it comes to home grown paint jobs. With the amount of prep you did, even a rattle can job would have looked good.

Thats the plan someday when money and time permits! Right now it was just kind of a quick fix to have something extra to drive.

And correct Al, pretty much use a 4" ultra fine foam roller and rustoleum paint, mix the rustoleum with mineral spirits until its about the consistency of milk and then roll. 2 quarts of paint did about 3 coats for me. I just used rustoleum rusty metal primer to prime, then i bought 2 quarts of their red and 1 quart of their black and mixed those for the top coat.
