Where to park in Genting?
Someone asked this question before.
I have driven up a couple of times but in my previous car. Considering the eyecatching nature of our rides; where and how can we safely park there? I do not mind paying for the security. Only place i think it is safe is at the special members carpark where only genting silver/gold members can park. Too bad i am only a small time gambler... |

But its also fun to drive all the way to genting. My dad has a place there but i prefer to stay at the top. |
I ve been there a couple of times in my car. I think is quite safe parking in front of genting hotel. There r valets there but u can request to park it yrself. If I m not wrong the charges is between 7 to 10 ringgit.
The only disadvantage is open air. But at least u don ve to get yr chassis scratched through the basement carpark and most important it is safe. |
The charges are daily or per parking regardless of duration.
Are the lots there big enough to park safely. I rememeber the lots outside themepark hotel are quite narrow. And do they have 24hr security to look after cars parked there? |
The charges are for per entry. Don worry, the lots are big enough. They ve also barriers surrounging the carpark and security guards always there too.
|
parking problem...
the most danger place is car valet!! they can duplicate your car key very fast...
so when the next time or the next day...the car is GONE!! |
At least you know who stole your car and easier to make a claim.
"And the muderer left his wallet behind..." |
Emperor: I wouldn't loose too much sleep over this. The RX8 is just not worth stealing. Its not popular enuf in Malaysia. People only steal cars that can have a fast turnover/turaround ie quick sale -- Protons, Sunnys, RAV4s, RX300 etc. This is the case in most countries whether in teh States, UK or in Asia.
I think there are only some 60plus RX8s in Malaysia. Not exactly popular and besides, so uncommon, also easy to catch the thief. |

just wondering....is there anyway to run a strong voltage over the car when u arm it? so tat whoever touches it gets the shock of their life? Been thinking of something lidat for a loooooong time. Hahaha
|
there's this gizmo they sell at the science center gift shop that you can hook to any metal object, if a person touches it, he'll get a rude static electricity shock - quite painful actually. much safer than running a current and pacemaker friendly.
|
Frankly i am more worried about my car being vandalised than stolen. Its true that our 8 is too flashy to be stolen without being noticed especially with bodykit.
I actually thought of a concept to build a anti-hijack/theft voltage deterrent (And i intend to use >70amps; kill the damm buggers) Those so called shockers sold in shops are not true shockers. They only vibrate so fast that your nerves hurts. If it was a real one, not only your hand will hurt. |
Make sure you kill them with that. It'd be a real bitch if all the shockers do is piss 'em off and you'd probably get a nice rock on your seat (via the window).
|
No amount of shocking will harm a can of spray paint or bottle of paint remover... Only way is get someone to watch over your car or get a security cam (in the hopes of catching the culprit). If you install a shocking device, what if some innocent person accidentally brush up against your car when they are opening their door of their car parked just beside you? I think you'll get sued for causing grave injury + trauma, etc. If you guys are just talking cock, then pls continue... but if you are serious, then better spend your time thinking of something more constructive.
|
Innocent? I call it collateral damage. I will install a motion sensor with this loudspeaker warning:
"Unauthorised personnel. Step away from the vehicle" "I repeat. Step away now or risk danger" "Last warning. Your life will be in danger" 3 warnings and a bright red sign should do it. Anyway just talking cock. But i do have the concept design for a shock alarm. ok, ok. so to summarise. Its safer to park outside genting hotel using the valet service but can request to park myself. And our cars are too flashy to steal and dispose of. |
I suggest u park infront Best world Hotel...cover and a lot ppls there actually.Provided u don't mind to walk from best world hotel to the old casino. If u don't mind u can just gambling inside the best World hotel :o:

TAKE A BUS....you know the long vehicle with big wheels, many seats and a small toilet. Take a bus.
Man , just take the bus. You die die must go in style... Fly by plane to the airport and get flown in to Genting by helicopter. |
Yes, nowadays got dam nice buses... big cushy leather seats with personal video on demand and light snacks served.
But can't beat flying to KL in terms of travel time and safety of coz. And remember, if you choose to fly to KL, take SQ hor?! :mdrmed: hee hee |

Morning Guys...
A suggestion or rather an alternative to Genting (if its mainly for punting)... Go Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal , pay $48 for boarding pass + 1 whole day buffet... Try out the gambling ship... IMO, after testing Crown, Genting and LV, this ship is easier to win.. Food there is not bad too... |

IMO. crown casino beats any cruise ship and even Las Vegas. Why? Free food, free drinks, free parking, free points, free gifts, free money, no smoke, no need to tip and AU$ cheaper than US$ Sqflyer: Can sell me first class tickets at economy prices. :evil_laug |

You will have to participate first. And when you are in power, make sure you make LTA allow more mods and get subsidies for car modding.
Or i pay economy and sit in the pilots seat... |
Ermm... if you sit in pilot seat, I think everybody will disembark liao... Company sure lose money.

Lohsk: This is one gamble that is either, you not win anything or lose something. But most prob i will drive up. |
Emperor: I am not sure why you worry about driving your car to Genting so much? Worrying about the car being scratched is the last of my worries especially with the temptations at Mount Sin City -- gambling and all the overly friendly women there...
Remember the house usually wins. (97% of the time) So which is more likely to happen... your car getting scratched or the house winning? ;-) |
I'm curious... house really win 97% of the time? I didn't know our odds of winning are only 3%. If that's the case, then I'm really breaking the odds by A LOT even though overall I'm just breaking even. Is this 97% published in any research/survey?
|
Obviously I am not talking about football matches odds or horse racing odds here -- I am using the example of the slot machines; which if I am not mistaken, some are even set legally from 95% to 98% by the state (NV, NJ) gaming commission. The key to gambling is not that there are winners (-- thats good business for them to have... free advertising) but that people keep playing and pump wagers thru the system. They want you to stay as long as possible there... the odds will always favour them.
I read an article by some Math Prof in the States on this -- its just not possible to beat the house odds. YOU may beat it the first time but then you will come back and back. He proved the math with a formula which I didn't understand after a while. The odds stacked against you does vary from the types of games you play. |
The odds are really stacked against you in slot machines because the payout is a lot higher relative to the amount you wager. I won USD250 on a nickle slot (5c) and never played slot machines ever since because I figured I've used up my quota of slot machine wins. :p: On the occasional times I do visit a casino, I stick to table games only. Much better odds but payout is usually 1 for 1.
Even if the odds against you are only 51% (usually higher), if you continuously visit a casino, over an unlimited iteration, you will still lose. But of course we can only visit a casino for a finite number of times in our lifetime, so you will still win sometimes and lose sometimes. Moral of the story, spend only what you can afford to lose for this form of "entertainment". |

Baccarat and blackjack are the best bets. The house have only a small edge over the player. But over the long run, they will still make money.
Biggest sucker bet is the roulette. But my gambler buddy won RM$2000. He is really a lucky punter. And 9 out of 10 times we go to genting, he wins. He always bring just a little money and goes to genting to "withdraw" jackpots machines may post a 97% payout. To the statistic-impaired; it seems as if you will win 97% of the time. But what it really means is that the house will pay back 97% of money. But guess what, most of it is locked in the JACKPOT or some similar feature. Most people will still lose money. But i still like jackpot machines the best. |
