Underbody brace or sway bars?
 

I am considering between a sway bar and a underbody brace. Or maybe both.

Underbody brace: I am worried about the extra weight and it get scratch over humps. The 8 seems quite stiff stock, so i am not so sure if i really need it.

Sway: I am concerned about ride quality getting worse. And since mine is the AT base model, the suspensions are too soft to enable the sways to have a good effect.

Any comments?

I have the Auto Exe brace and Racing beat sways, go with the sways first most bang for the buck.

The Auto Exe brace adds 6.8 Kg / 15 lbs and I have not scratched mine yet.
Yes the 8 is stiff, I wanted it stiffer.
The Racing Beat sways have not made the ride worse when driving on well maintained roads.

those who got the brace swears by the brace....

those who got the sways will swear by the sways as well....

those who got both........ hehehehehe.... u take ur pick.... i will take the undercarriage brace anytime.... reason being our car oredi has the stock sways....

Drive your car a little longer first. Rachtet up your driving notch by notch, until you feel the car giving way to your style. Now, suppose you're not too bothered about changing your style of driving to suit your car, its time to figure out how you want your car to change its reaction to your driving. When you're done figuring that out, do a little research on the Internet or ask for suggestions from the bros here, what you can do to achieve that.

What you might need is something as apparently insignificant as change of tyres type, or a little tweak with offsets or camber.

To me, IMHO, stiffer sway bars are a BIG step. Better handling as a result? That's highly subjective. Stiff rears can be fun, but then again fun can result in burnt pockets too.

Someone mentioned here that undercarriage braces are passive. I strongly agree with him, and more than just passive, I'd like to add that these are 'defensive' or 'durability' mods.

But before you start seriously flexing some chassis, play with your car till the stock suspensions does a slow full travel when your car breaks at something more than a lateral 0.8g.

Catch my drift? Go easy first. Bond with your baby, then change your baby to suit you. Alternatively, just change yourself.

What I meant in other words, to make a non-sudden, sustainable turn that leans as much weight as possible to one side of the car.

Get the brace first, ur car's body last longer that way

Can explain why will the car body last shorter if the swaybar is install 1st? and last longer with the Brace?

Brace simply helps with limiting chassis flex during harsh cornering or even crossing a hump, swaybar is for tuning bodyroll and lateral weight transfer. I ran my one year old car hard without braces and now it is definitely noiser and i can even feel the rear of the car actually twisted, in short the car is falling apart.

If you can feel the rear of your car actually twisted and falling apart after only 1 year, something has to be wrong with your particular car! Cars are made to last much longer than that, unless you have been taking part in the forest rallies or jumping over humps...:nono:

FYI the 8 does have underbody braces, just much smaller ones compared to the autoexe or MS ones.

yes, its in fact very small....... get the full autoexe ones and u will noe wat u r missing out....
