Got any recommendation for new tyres? I've had my car for 2 years, 25k km, and the rubber feels a bit hard. Quite slippery when I drive in the wet, so I figure it's time for a change.

I'll be using stock 18" rims on my 6sp MT, what are your recommendations (and where can I get them?)

Eagle F1...good on both dry and wet roads...used those on my previous ride before it was totaled.

Currently AD07 on my 8, feels great on dry...never dare push it hard on wet surfaces thou...

dun try.. the neovas are not grippy on wet roads....

Same old theory:

What you gain in the dry, you loose in the wet. Vice versa.

If there is such a thing as good and wet tyre, then F1 won't have so much headaches during wet and dry races.

Use a tyre that suit your driving style.

RX-8ster, if you're willing to spend a bit more, can consider the Michelin PS2. I got new shoes for my 8's 2nd birthday with PS2s. Good grip, lightweight, low noise, good steering feel and decent wear. Among the best rubbers you can get.

I love my Eagle F1 too. Excellent handling in the wet! Feels great in the dry too. Haven't tested it on the track before, but its definately good enough for road driving.

eagle f1 is more a street tyre than a track tyre, more all round performance.

ad07 is essentially a track tyre, which explains y it handles poorly in the wet.....

actually A048 is a track tire. AD07 is more street, but empahsis on dry. It handles slightly worse in wet due to thread not as great as goodyearF1 and the compound seems a little less grippy in wet.

It wasn't me...my brother in law totaled my previous ride on a dry road...sigh. He mentioned that he felt the tyres punctured before he went into a uncontrollable spin...sigh...but that's the german made Eagle F1....

falken wear out too fast and i find st115 unpredictable when worn. the breakaway is too sudden and without any warning screech or sound.

Before you hear any comment from anyone I think you should check out the AD07 review from the expert first.
Here is the link you might find some interesting info regarding how well the AD07 handles even in rain .... must say it is not as good as Eagle F1 but they are not weak either as claimed by others....since it still get excellent rating on wet by tirerack.... and I personally have used the AD07 at sepang and pushing it hard in a well soaked track.... my 2 cents worth......

the experts tried them and gave reviews when its relatively new. Of cos when it is new, the ad07s are superb, no doubts abt it.

Try using the AD07s after 10,000km...... still good but losing slight grip oredi, especially on wet. After 20,000km, the real NOISE starts to come. Of cos, the linings are still very thick. and of cos, dry grip still there. Try it on wet roads and ur car backside will be unpredictable. Dry grip still ok.

For realistic singapore road use which u r on 95% of the time, eagle f1 is a better choice, or toyo proxes T1R. Having said that, i myself am on neovas and the grip is losing n the noise is getting louder. Louder not becos the rubber is getting hard. My tyres are definitely use and warm everyday cos i travel relatively long distance every day, so no chance of the rubber being hardened due to lack of usage. Wet grip is quite crappy although my tyre thread are still very thick.

I have a set of falken ziax ze512 they are a high performance all season tire. only had them on for 2 weeks but i couldnt be happier. Super quiet, smooth and the car feels alot more sure of its self on the turns. paid 519 shipped from www.discounttiredirect.com

So it looks like Eagle F1s. They don't have the 45 profile tyres, ok to go with the 225/40R18s? It's about 3% smaller diameter than the stock tyres.

I also saw on the Goodyear Singapore website that they have a version reformulated for Asia. Does this mean that it's made in Thailand like some of the other brands?

there nothing really wrong with made in thailand good year tyres. they are oso QC-ed mah.... german made are perceived better???

seriously, i wld buy the thailand ones for the price since it is also made from goodyear. at that price, even if i have to change every 25,000km, i oso dun mind.

the only complain i have for goodyear tyres is the design of the sidewalls, which are rounded.

but again, everyone's tinking is different.....

Agree...if I would change back to Eagle F1, I would go for the thailand made ones simply because of the price. Goodyear wouldn't want to have their name tarnish because of some shady tyres produced from another country...it's just too much to lose, so rest assured they'll scrutinize the product quality...

Again, that's me...the choice is up to you...

235/40 is a viable option too. I have them. Things aside, the thread pattern is nice from the rear view. :)

Bridgestone S02. The classic and as good today as yesteryear. Available by indent basis and manufactured by Bridgestone only for certain cars, not available as a mass tyre.

How about the S03? They look like performance tyres. I don't mind changing tyres every 25k km as that's the distance I cover in two years, and tyres should be changed every 2 years anyway.

Yup, S03s are good but like other Bridgestone OEM tyres, they are not easy to get a hold of. Even tyre shops may face some difficulty sourcing OEM tyres so the ones you get may be of different or older manufacturing dates which is an important but often overlooked factor. In the end, that's the reason I got the PS2 coz it's among the best tyres that are commercially available so manufacturing date is very recent.
