Suitable petrol for our Beauty

Hi All

Which petrol do u guys use? I will be getting my ride next week!!! damn!!! gonna be a heck of a long week. But not sure which petrol to use. Is shell 98 ok? heard caltex will be better. Is that true?

CoupeM 12-06-2006 07:22 AM

95 can liao

sqflyer 12-06-2006 09:44 AM

nfs, is your 8 a Euro spec from MM or JDM from PI? Euro spec can run on 95, JDMs better to use 98. Fuel giving better mileage cost more so works out to be the same. Just pick a brand that you can get good discounts or one that is conveniently located near your place.

Got my ride last week. can use V-Power?

CoupeM 12-06-2006 11:02 AM

Cannot! Can only use caltex with techron.

xacidx 12-06-2006 11:41 AM

Dunno fi tis a myth or what. some people say use v-power the apex seal will break/leak or something like that. so wanna check see v-power can use or not

effie 12-06-2006 12:53 PM

I've been using V-Power from day 1 of ownership (4months now)..... No problems whatsoever !!!! As a matter of fact, there is a significant power difference between regular 97Ron 'vs' 100Ron (new V-Power Racing)....... I tried Caltex Techron, Esso F1, Petronas........ Finally went back to V-Power coz of the better power and much racier exhaust note....... BTW, mine is the Type S JDM 6Speed manual version fitted with FUJITA ENGINEERING (FEED) EXHAUST & AutoEXE Plug Cables....... Some ppl warned me against using V-Power...... I don't see the problem though......In Japan, fuel used there is 100Ron, soooo...... wouldn't V-Power be the same as what u get in Japan? I could be wrong though....... maybe there's something in the V-Power fuel formula that is detrimental to the renesis engine???? For now..... till i believe otherwise, i'll continue pumping the new V-Power Racing 100Ron fuel...... Very noticable power difference :Eyecrazy:

sqflyer 12-06-2006 01:59 PM

I don't mean to be skeptical, but if you can hear a "much racier exhaust note" just from using a different petrol, then you must have superb hearing. Or maybe I should just turn down the volume on my I.C.E. In any case, I have not heard anything bad about using V-Power other than it cost more.

lift-intelligent 12-06-2006 03:55 PM

don be stupid lah, v power is still ron 97.

Appreciate ur constructive comments..... at least it isn't rude. What i meant to say is that Revs build up faster using V-Power fuel which in turn makes the exhaust note kind of different at certain revs (especially between 4000-7000rpms)....... Also, the flat spot between 8000-9000rpm is much improved......

Just my personal view and experience and I only meant to share. I Prolly shud just shut-up and not share next time (which defeats the purpose of this forum).
I won't comment on ICE since that just isn't my thing. Thx anyways for being more civilised........

Hey fren, sharing is fine, not to worry.... :cwm27:

Just ignore which ever morons in here with their insults or name calling.......even some or alot of the tuners here are not even well versed with what they are doing as well....

So giving our 2 cents worth is fine, as no one here has the certified calibre to say whats right or wrong.... :)

JDM must use 98. Only euro spec can use 95. Pls stick to 98. Thank you.

jaii13 12-07-2006 02:35 AM

This is the internet, man. People just take things too seriously around here :Freak_ani

jaii13 12-07-2006 02:41 AM

Oh and I use Shell hijau (don't know it's fancy name :p: )

Swerve76 12-07-2006 02:58 AM

I'm driving MM 6MT and tried all the top tier fuels. Have to say the smoothest one of them all has to be Caltex Platinum.

I've noticed less engine vibrations, less engine 'knocking' and accelaration is silky smooth.

Only thing I dont get is how some of you get 420km+ outta one full tank. Full tank for me is roughly about 90+ bucks before discount and it will last me around 350km only. Not that I mind the fc too much but it would be nice to be able to squeeze a little more out of a full tank.

nfs, since your 8 is JDM, please stick to 98. Don't be stupid and use 95. Ha ha.. Sorry to use u to lighten up the tension here... :cwm27: Apologise 1st if you are offended, but since u didn't use 95 that means u not stupid lor.
