Stickers NumberPlate

Hello everyone,

looking for a reliable supplier in Singapore to do my sticker number plate to stick onto the left hand side of the RX-8 instead of using the original centre piece.

Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance.

Was it just a fine only? Any points deduction?

could you share your experience? road block? ROV? i got the impression that it should not be a problem if the letter size is similar to those specified by LTA. also, to remember putting it back when going for inspection.

SushiFan 09-03-2007 11:44 AM

Did some research on LTA website. But there's nothing specific to say it cannot be the sticker type nor must put in the centre. hmmmm vague area here. Anybody knows where else to get better info?

Don know the exact add but very near Monster Garage

I got mine done at the shop near MG.

No points deductions. Got stop by a ROV bike on upp serangoon road. Not road block.

If you read carefully on one motoring; it asctually says a number PLATE VERTICALLY mounted. Thats what the officer told me.

just a word of advice, if TP cant find any illegal mod on ur car, the next obvious thing will be ur sticker plate...

jus kena pull over at ECP by TP 4 days ago. definitely illegal. kena summon but yet to receive letter. now in the process of changing back to normal plate.

lootster 09-04-2007 11:48 AM

Wow looks like i need to replace the sticker with a number plate.....

Problem is i am using replica MS front bumper so not sure how to fixed the plate in front of the bumper. Any bros out there care to contribute some pics to see how the number plate was mount??

LoneWolf 09-04-2007 10:25 PM

So sticker number plate is illegal... Then how abt using approved number plates but mounted on the side instead of centre? Is it approved? Any bros can share?

I've actually remembered reading somewhere in another forum as regards to the Sticker Number Plate being legal as that guy has a reply from LTA....but as i couldn't recall which forum it is...

I've emailed LTA and am awaiting LTA's reply now.
Cheers!

SushiFan 09-05-2007 06:02 AM

maybe its for certain car models that has no choice.. like alfa romeo? The 8 a bit hard to argue.

whitedragon 09-05-2007 08:23 AM

dunno why our govt so niao...small small thing also wan to bother...still can see number wat  ....how to be creative in this competitive world. juz follow law loh :(

PitchBlaC 09-05-2007 10:04 AM

The Evos have their number plate at the side because it will block the intercooler if mounted in the centre, creating cooling problem.

Our car will not be affected because there is still a huge area for air intake below the number plate.

From one motoring. Quote:

"The vehicle licence plate shall be exhibited at the front and at the back of the motor vehicle not more than one metre from the ground in a vertical position so that every letter or figure of the vehicle licence plate is easily distinguishable."

What LTA officer told me

1) PLATE as in a number PLATE, not number sticker
2) Vertical as in 90 degrees pependicular to ground
3) distinguishable as in easily photographed or seen from head on and/or directly forward and/or above.

I still have the bloody fine....

Emperor 09-05-2007 10:16 AM

To add to my injury. Officer said "License plate is not supposed to be affixed anywhere other than on the holder which came with the car"

to which i replied i had a bodykit

then

"You are not supposed to replace the whole bumper; we only allow add-ons. Dun believe check website and go to the inspection department to check"

he's not quite right. however, LTA guidelines highlighted bumper must be of the design approved by vehicle manufacturer. what a wierd rule, as if mazda would say 'yeah, autoexe bodykits are suitable for rx8.'

anyhow, i removed the sticker plate and reverted to normal ones recently to avoid trouble. thanks for sharing the experience.

even if they are ok with having the plate mounted on the side, you would need to customise a mounting bracket to angle the plate to ensure that the plate is perpendicular and facing forward. that's what they did to evos and alfas. think it looks wierd.
