Hi - I 've seen a picture of this before somewhere - what exactly does this do (and don't say "start") - is it like a keyless go option?

I think it has certain purpose like crank up your engine smoothly.... It helps in extending the engine's life...

no purpose beyond cosmetic and cool factor...does look damn cool though

ash tray is the design but it could go anywhere really, well not the gear **** though

yes but others have put it in the middle of the head unit

others have mounted it on the dash, like I said, wherever you want

yes unless you put in an aftermarket alarm system that interfaces with an ignition button such as this
