Start button

Hi guys,

I just installed the rotary start button on my car, was wondering if my setup was correct since the installation manual is in Japanese.

Once the button is press and the engine is started, is it suppose to be disable or it will still allow the engine to crank when the button is press again. Please kindly advice. Many thanks.

Hi! U right - once button is pressed, engine starts. Light on button goes off & button goes 'dead' (i.e. nothing happens if u press it).

And whatever u do... enjoy the button!!! Cheers!

shirube 07-24-2004 08:25 AM

hello,

may i know where did you get this start button and where to install? thanks!

Naughty Boy 07-25-2004 07:32 AM

U can get it from most (all?) PIs.

As for installation, u can try diy; or ask the PI to help wire. Good luck!

P.S. If u get the auto remote start fited; pls let me know!!!

M-ster 07-25-2004 08:36 AM

Start button cost around $300plus, got thru PI plus installation. Or you can try the vendors section and purchase over the net.

shirube 07-25-2004 09:21 AM

thanks! but i am not good at diy,
and how much is per set?

Naughty Boy 07-25-2004 09:31 AM

I'll check around & let u know.

Better yet, show up for the meet this Sunday! Me sure some of the guys can help advise u. Me quite good at diy - but the quality is somehow (always) suspect... I've even set me car on fire before!

Naughty Boy 07-25-2004 09:47 AM

Hi M-ster! Didn't see ur post. Funny how it didn't show earlier... Don't think Shirube saw it either...

Yo Shirube! M-ster said it's S$300+ plus installation. Good deal!

M-ster 07-25-2004 10:06 AM

Hummm...
that's weird???
I did post after your last 2nd post. Don't know why it jump the queue and went a head??
By the way plus installation was because I got the car from the PI, if one goes in just to purchase the button or anything for matter, chances are they will charge a fee.

Hey guys....will the start button work on a US 8?

- Danny

shirube 08-12-2004 10:35 PM

hi i think it should work for the US specs, as the proper imports here are from US.

M-ster 08-13-2004 12:20 AM

Actually, i've not heard anything about them making the button for LHD yet. If remembered correctly, for RHD it's quite a easy plug and play thing, whereas for LHD the wires ain't long enough, thus more works are needed inorder to install the button.

FYI. I doubt it will work, as indicate in Japanparts site.

START BUTTON KIT
**RHD Unit only**Exchanging the coin case beside(RHS in Japan) the streeing wheel.
1st, you turn the ignition key on and the trim of that kit lights up. 2nd, putting the clutch plate and brake plate on. 3rd, pushing the button and engine starts working.
