some questions

hey guys i've been in this forum for a long time..but i only read and never posted..and only recently did i find the asian side...i've always been reading the american/european threads..

anyway i was wondering...i sat in an 8 once and theres this thing that sticks out in the drivers side foot well..does it get in the way when you're driving (especially for a manual)..

how bout flooding? does MM like come down and drain it out for you? and if i got it from a PI would MM clear it out or can the PI's do it?

and finally so how much more are you'll spending on petrol? 1.3's a nice engine capacity..specially for road tax..but i guess you save on the upswing and lose on the down swing eh?

Thanks a million in advance:D .

Welcome glennmarclee.

The bulge on the transmission tunnel actually doesnt get in the way. It looks like it would but once you're seated, its fine.

Flooding wise, have not heard this happening to any of the PI cars so far. FYI, MM will not touch a PI car nor sell parts etc to non-MM customers...

You're right on the savings for the road tax as it is a 1.3 litre engine :D As for fuel consumption, just think of it as a 250ps engine, and you wont feel too bad!

So when are you getting yours?

Hi glen,
Welcome.
The bulge on the foot well is cause by the Header(correct me if I'm wrong). It was a little uncomfortable when just got the car, but it's a matter of getting use to it, you would not find it any diff.
As for flooding, I think most new car should roll out from the factory with the new ECU that's already have that so called M-flash that the American have being talking about. Thus flooding should be the least on your mind. Don't think why PIs or MM would not fix your car if flooding should occured.
Petrol- how much depend on how much you drive and how you drive. Like most of us here in Singapore have reported, average about 7km per litre. So 1 full tank is bout 55 liters, average about 250km to 420km. The difference how the car consume petrol very much on how you drive.
So wat are you driving now, and how much distance it can cover? You should be able to work that out and have a rough idea how much you would be spending on petrol.

cheers!

hey guys..thanks for the fast reply..getting the 8's not really up to me...fathers money fathers car...hopefully he'll hit his mid-life crisis soon and with a little persuasion he'll think about it..i'm driving the mothers camry now..so fuel consumption's pretty good as long as i dont get heavy footed..and thanks again for reply..i'll have to go figure out how much i can get with the camry now..do a little homework first..compare it with the 8..oh yea..how bout insurance? does the 8 fall under a sports car or saloon?

Not trying to scare you, sometimes, the sales persons or the front desk persons know nuts. They calculate everything base on a formula, eventually, the underwriter will be the one who vet thru all cases. They will re-adjust your premium, unless goes undetacted.

ps I'm paying high performance with the same guys.

cuscorex 06-20-2004 02:29 AM

agree wif M...but since Xman got them in black & white,@ least he'l stand the advantage if there's an arguement

M-ster 06-20-2004 03:55 AM

You can't argue them even with the B&W. They'll just re-adjust the nos, and if you don't buy it, they just terminate the policy...
In singapore, consumers are always in the losing end. :(

XtremeRev 06-20-2004 12:56 PM

Hi guys, i got the same offer like Xman did. Cos registered under my dad's name wif the 50% NCD. I was surprised when told group as 4dr too.

cuscorex 06-20-2004 04:18 PM

hey M & to the rest,
big TOUCH WOOD 1st....
wat if we r involved in a claim,we r claimin 'our own'?lets say xcess printed on the paper is 1.5k...but aft they so-call re-adjust,they quote tat the xcess is now 3k instead due to tis a special car/case.u mean we either gotta fork out 3k,or they can actualli terminate the policy immediately w/o compensation?

M-ster 06-20-2004 07:07 PM

The excess should be 1.5k. Mine was quoted $500. After about a month+, they called to tell me they've made a mistake, the excess should be 1.5k instead of $500. Frankly there's nothing I could do, so it's 1.5k now:(
