Singapore MT RX8 2009 coming?

Sorry to ask u guys here but i'm new to this forum and i can't seems to find the answer i'm searching for..

That is... Is singapore mazda motor gonna bring in the MT Rx8 2009 version? Cos so far the sales person told me that they are bringing in the AT version.. I intend to get an 8 very very soon.. and to my knowledge it takes a few months for the 8 to reach sg.. so i'm eager to ask u guys..

should i get the current 8 model MT? or wait for the 09 version AT or hope that there's a release in MT in sg?

and also is AT being preferred? please advise me as i'm very new to this as it's my 1st car.. all i know that MT is being preferred if u intend to do some serious business with the car.. but is the 8's step tronic efficient as well?

i'm like 26, hence MM doesn't allow me to test drive the 8.

Hope u guys out there r willing to help me out.. Thanks

If you're not too particular about the styling, wait for the '09 model. Important changes to the oil metering system which might improve the longevity of the engine. Mazda isn't saying anything, but current model might not be getting enough oil to the apex seals cos when they designed it, they concentrated more on getting oil to the side seals. That's prob y they added a 3rd injector in the '09 model.

MT should be no problem, but must go PI.. Garage R is confirmed reliable, and not as ex as ppl think they are. It's just that their price is OTR (all-in) price, unlike many other PIs which advertise cheap, but must add a lot of hidden extras in the end. Ultimately, any PI you go to will be cheaper than MM.

Also, since MM switched to the indent system and don't keep stock of the 8 in sg, waiting time for delivery will be same as PI. (i think).

hum.. what do u mean by if i'm not too particular about the styling? actually i'm very particular about the styling... is it meaning the 09 model looks not as impressive as the previous model? or is it bcos the body kit by far production is meant for the old model and not meant for the 09 model?

Hi there, was in a similar situation as you just last week, but decided not to wait anymore and booked a 6-AT thru a PI. I looked for those with ready stock and hunted for the best deal I could find.

Should my COE bidding be successful later, I'll prolly be driving away with the 8 latest on coming Monday :)

The facelift model sports minor changes, mainly to the exterior styling and IMO, the current one looks more stylish. Most dealers say the facelift will come in earliest after June and will command a premium price.

My opinion.. no point waiting and waiting. If you're interested to see if my PI has stock for the colour of your choice, gimme a call at 81863336. Alternatively, just do some legwork like me and hunt down all the PIs in SG. Haha..

Get the MT. No regrets.

hum... actually i was thinking about the MT too.. but is it better for me to get the current MT version? or the 09 MT version? given Rumboo mention about the getting enough oil to the apex seals for 09 model.. is the 09 model MT ready for order via PI?

furnance 03-18-2008 11:28 PM

oh ya.. and if i'm to get the previous model.. which year's model should i get? please advise

Some ppl like the '09, some don't... it's not just a new bodykit, but some bodywork changes too. Have you seen the pics? Just check the recent threads on the main forums.

At first ppl thought it's just cosmetic changes, cos Mazda says it's the same engine.. yes, same engine, but with an additional oil injector per chamber, which they quietly added, and revised ignition timing.

Not sure if PI has introduced, but they are usually much quicker than MM. Can call to check. What they do is buy a car on sale in Japan, then deregister it over there and ship it to sg. If dereg within 3 mths (i think), sg gov will still consider it a new car. If on sale in Jap now, and demand is not too high, I don't see why they can't bring it in.

Garage R is quite well known for tuning n stuff for all jap performance cars, they don't specialise in the rx8, but when they started importing cars, they also try to maintain good reputation. What they promise you is what you'll get, but that means they won't promise you as many things as some other PIs. Anyway, there are a few other good PIs which some of the guys here can introduce too.

If die die cannot wait, just get lah! Our model is also worth every cent! If you get new car, it will be the correct year liao.

no offense to those who like the new up coming 8....but i think the front bumper resembles a frog that's smiling...
in all honesty i would still choose the original 8 than this new one even if there the newer model will have better performance...
just my 2 cents worth...

furnance 03-19-2008 10:45 AM

hum.. icic..

so bro rumboo... if u say garage R is not specialised in 8.. then can u introduce me some garages that specialised in 8??

thanks

Rumboo 03-19-2008 12:59 PM

Haha, I think only Monster Garage is specialised in rotary.. pm coupe07 for info..dun worry, won't kena kah one.

But you need to get the car first!

MG is a garage, not a PI.. For buying car, any PI which is trustworthy is good enough. GR will sell and service (and tune) car. MG specialises in 8, but doesn't sell cars. Some PI use MG for rotary servicing, but some PI also use Comfort Delgro etc.

Bottom line, buy car just use any good PI.. but make sure their service package is with MG. GR does both sales and servicing, and are quite good with the rotary also, but MG works with rotary day-in day-out.

KnightB:
New one not better performance in terms of hp and torque, just possibly longer lasting only. And maybe the different gear ratio will help with acceleration, but NO extra power. I definitely agree with you on the looks, but maybe aftermarket bumper will help?

haha perhaps bro perhaps...well we'll soon see em' on the road...then sooner or later there will be those with aftermarket kits too so till then it's all speculation...but i have to admit i do love the new stock rims

furnance 03-19-2008 09:15 PM

yeah...

but i'm still looking at the colours available for the 8-RS...

do u guys think the spoiler for the RS is abit wierd? or prefer to change it to the MS one or the GT wing?

Rumboo 03-21-2008 04:47 PM

Ivan just told me MS wing increase price by Mazda 2K+ ... nbcb Mazda...
