Servicing from PI and upgrades

Hi,
Noticed there are a lot of discussion on "flooding" due to cold engines and the need to apply the M-flash to PCM (Powertrain Control Module) in the technical discussion threads:

http://www.finishlineperformance.com...01-022-04.html

For Singapore RX-8s, if you get the car from a PI, do their workshop have the capabilities to do these software upgrades? Has anyone done this yet?

For cars purchased from Mazda Singapore, are the new cars already installed with the "M" calibration level?

Lastly, does this "flooding" ever happened to Singapore RX-8s, especially the earlier PI-cars?

Thanks!

Definitely no flooding for me. In fact, I have always been starting my car and turning off the engine at very short intervals especially after I have washed my car and have to move to another lot to dry it. This is all done within a time frame of less than 1 minute. Nothing has happened so far and I hope it stays that way.

Yup. Same here

I have even intentionally flooded my engine and 'si chia'.
Np after that when starting. (Carry out some mods..Dun ask)

Think must be a serious porblem for it to flood...

Cheers

PI dealers cannot reflash, MMS can, but you will probably have to pay for it.

Cars imported by MMS have the latest software, although it is not called "M" (the "M" name is only used in the US). They are UK spec vehicles.

Flooding is possible on an early PI, if you are worried have MMS reprogram your PCM.

Wow! Mr M, your're from Germany? But you seems to be quite familiar with the scene here.
But frankly, I don't think MMS will entertain even if PIs'-cars wanna pay for it.

I was in Singapore last week and spoke with MMS personally.

Mazda will not leave you high and dry without service no matter where you bought your car. You have to understand though, those PI dealers bring in cars for a profit and promise nothing afterwards. They get their dollars and expect Mazda to follow up afterwards, without investing a cent in after-service.

MMS are spending LOTS of money upgrading their workshop and PDI facility, training their sales and workshop staff, and providing other facilities/services to make their customers happy. Why should a PI customer benefit from this when they haven't contributed anything to MMS in the first place?

I'm not saying don't try MMS for after-service, just take this into account when you ask, very nicely, for a favour from them.

Cheers.

I would really appreciate if MMS would service our cars bought from PI

I could have bought from MMS but they could only bring in the manual, my wife loves the automatic and that's the only reason I get mine from the PI

Anyway I just have one thing to say whether you get yours from MMS or PI it is a damn good car and I love every minute of it.
