Those RX8 owner that purchase their car earlier before the "Retractable Key" was release, can have MM do for you. Cost around $200+ including programming and the immobliser.
I just done it today at MM when servicing my car. Just that the "trunk" button dun seems working, i going back there tomolo to get it done. :Freak_ani |
Bro, $200+ for 1 key or 2? Any pic?

You have to pass them all the remotes (think MM have 2)
Yes, they re-program the whole entire remote with the immobliser , so that when u insert the Retractable Key, it works the same as your previous key. I will try to take some pictures this afternoon and post it. |

Well, I don't know what/who MM is, but just get a remote with an already cut key on eBay, then a replacement key from Mazdaparts and program it yourself - should cost way less than that.
I just did the same thing, and my remote + new key with all shipping charges included was about 85 US dollars. |

Oh, I see. Wasn't aware of the differences between the US and other cars regarding remotes. Interesting.
Actually, all things considered, that price is not bad at all then. Cool. |

Cool ! yes, it works, you got to hold it between 0.5 - 2 secs before the boot opens.
Thanks sandman369 ! :yelrotflm |

Yeah, those bought the RX8 later will get the retractable key :)
Some of us, like me bought much earlier, was just a normal key (means Key and Remote is separated) :smoker: |
i think must ask coupe to gather those itchy backside MM owners to do a group booking for the retractable key.

(Guess Pro and Con) :Eyecrazy: |

Maybe we can tell MM we need 10 keys and ask for the price? Collect the money 1st then pay them in one shot. |
i did it while servicing my car coz that will save time waiting there.
Take note: you got to bring all the keys and remotes (including the spare, MM RX8 owner should have 2 remotes, you got to bring all) Basically, i think MM re-programmed the remote on the "Jack-Knife" key remote together with the rest that you have. I doubt MM will give any special prices for grp buy, but again, no harm trying. |
