RX8 Original Compatible CD Changer
 

Hi Bros!

I'm new here & juz got my ride 2 weeks ago. Was frustrated to find out that my ride got from a PI does not even come with a single CD changer.:banghead:

Fortunately, with the help of JDM Daniel & CY @ Eunos, they able to find a original 6CD changer that can be linked to the console control panels.:lol2:

I'm here juz to share wif bros who are looking for compatible CD changer can contact JDM 96303880 or 97568698.

What's the damage? I know our ride is compatible with the in-dash changer that came with the pre-SP M6. If only i knew that before, i'd have took my old set out before exporting it...

Bro u may want to call JDM to chk cos mine is really a special rate that's given by JDM bcos i'm doing the entire sound system there.

Just sharing, here are the various options you can improve yr ICE in your RX8 ride

1. Add on a crappy RF(radio frequency) changer. This is the option most PIs will give you. Lousy sound quality and affects radio reception too.

2. Add on a compatible CD changer. Eg. Alpine. Pretty good sound quality but doesn't interface with info panel and don't have full control at steering control.
You can even add this changer as "Aux" mode even if you have OEM 6 disc head unit.

3. Add on OEM 6 disc, MP3 or single disc player. Simple installation, no modification, full steering control and info panel integration. This is as good as it gets. You can get this from overseas dealers.

4. Single din pod on dashboard. You can add on whatever head unit you want.
Rmagic selling about S$700.00 but I think there are other sources selling
cheaper. Great if you want to add sound processor, flip up screen DVD head
unit or GPS screen.

5. Kanatech Double din face panel to replace OEM head unit. About S$750 also. With this face plate, the sky's the limit. but you lose some functions on the info panel or the steering control. But if u use aftermarket head units, nowadays the after market options are endless with new technology. CD players are quite passe liao.

6. Add ons like Pioneer sound processor(IPOD ready) DEQ-P7650 to enhance the OEM sound system with a cool LCD display AXM-P7650.

7. Add ons like OEM IPOD adapter.

7. After market IPOD adapters that not only interface with OEM head unit but also the info panel.

For option 3, what's the $$ damage?

Carsound quoted me $500 if i remembered correctly. They will install the OEM changer at the boot but controllable from the front panel and/or steering.

Didn't proceed with them cos i don't think it's worth it to invest that money on a CD changer that doesn't play mp3. You might be better off getting an ipod n connect it to the stock HU using an ipod adapter e.g. audiolink, xcarlink etc.

Same $500 will get u CD quality sound out of your system without sacrificing steering control + easily 100 times or more songs available at your finger tips. If you already have an ipod, that will make the investment amount much lower ~$200. Most importantly, your investment can be protected as both the adapter n the mp3 player is portable to your next ride ;)

Thanx for the info man. Here's the value of the this forum at work =p. Save time save $$. I already have a JVC after market CD changer. Came with the car. Just trying to improve the radio reception.

option 3 is original 6 disc player, mp3 or single disc.
it is not a changer. it is built into the head unit. it will set you back bout $6-700 for the 6 disc head unit. check out the MM type S, all with built in 6 disc head unit.
FYI, there is a junkyard selling a 2nd hand whole front panel with radio n 6disc player on Ebay, starting bid US100.
but note the courier will set you back like US$60-80

i used to have the jvc radio frequency cd changer.
no offence to anione but sound quality really crappy.
after i put in my 6 disc head unit, i didn't even bother to take it back.
it is still lying with the audio shop, considered i gave it to them for their labour for helping me install my head unit.

that would be option 2. aftermarket changer like Alpine.
Mazda don't have CD changer so it is not considered
"Original Equipment Manufacturer"

Hey, the JVC came with the car... i didnt have a choice. So far I think its ok but just want to improve my FM reception. Sometimes get break in when driving thru certain parts or when in heavy concrete concentrated area.

I've resigned to the fact that the radio recep of our ride is generally poor... did a search in the forum when i first got my ride n seems that the only effective way of improving the recep is to get an aftermarket HU, improved recep + improved sound quality too. But the cost of the HU + panel would easily exceed $1K which is why i decided to live with it. Another way is to go digital with a DAB tuner but it's not a cheap option either.

Btw, i somehow feel that my radio recep is so-so in the east, better in town n best in the west :confused:
