Hello
Try GarageR. I get my parts from there. Their understanding of the 8 is great and their staff are friendly and helpful. Happy shopping...

Go to GR. If u want to splash on something better, why be penny foolish? Might as well start a meaningful relationship as I am sure this will not be the only thing u are changing rite?

Yeah... i meant intercooler...

Radiators are not as efficient as intercoolers therefore i am trying to get someone to do the change. not sure if it will work but itz worth a try.

Why not???
I find itz a much better system than the current water cooled rotaries that we have. If it works, it will be a much better enhancement and will prolong engine lifespan.

I am currently looking at a HKS intercooler made for the RX7, Will talk to my mech about it .

How would an inter-cooler cool the engine better than a radiator?

Why not get a better radiator, and keep the inter-cooler for your turbo kit?

I'm as confused as you are.

Sounds like a 'ricer-mod' to show off a big shiny intercooler.
I'm not sure whether it is technically possible.

BTW, upgrading the radiator and adding additional thermo fans is a better idea IMO.

Easier and cheaper to do as well with less headaches, then again, no big shiny intercooler poking out at the front.........

More questions...my understanding of an intercooler is to cool the compressed air created by turbochargers. So how would a stock RX-8 possibly benefit from this?

It won't benefit - could it be that what the guy wants to do is say he has an 'intercooled' RX8, without the trouble of acutally building a turbo/sc system for the car? I dunno. I wish any benefits of the project could be explained to me.

But - it's his money to waste...after he's done, he can pick up one of these and be all set

Are you suggesting the use of intercooler instead of radiator? So, you will not be using water to cool your engine? Instead, air cool it with an intercooler? What happens when your 8 is sitting idle, no air blowing your shiny intercooler? And did you know that air gets hotter than water? Water is used because it transfers heat away from the engine better. An intercooler is used to cool down the air blown by a charger. Using the word cool in the intercooler doesn't really mean refrigerator cool, just cooler than without an intercooler ok? You will end up killing your engine replacing a radiator with an intercooler.

If you are just making an excuse to get that shiny intercooler up your front bumper, then get it installed there without a function, just don't replace your intercooler. I think this whole idea is just trying to justify a ricer mod, period.

Just save up your money for the real Turbocharger with intercooler instead of using that money for installing a ricer mod and payment for a damaged engine.

Pardon my ignorance but i assumed that the intercooler would work in replacement of the radiator.

It's cool dude. If you want better cooling for your engine, I suggest you look up Redline Water Wetter. Redline's website explains a lot about the benefits of it. Living in Asia, you wouldn't have a problem not putting anti-freeze in your radiator.
