Possible to remove beeping sound when in reverse gear?
For those 8s with reverse sensors installed, do you hear 2 different beeping tones when reversing your ride? Anyway to remove the default beeping sound?
|
Just curious,The beep sound is for warning so my question.what for u install the reverse sensor without the beep sound?
|
even without the reverse sensor installed, there is still beeping sound when you engage in reverse gear.
why try to remove the sound? it's only a fraction of a minute that you engage reverse gear wat.....it's not like you always drive in reverse gear. |
Stand on it till engine blows beep will stop.

I totally agree with you. It helps me to differentiate between engaging the Reverse gear vs the 6th gear. Winn |
Mine is AT so no risk of engaging the wrong gear. Even without the reverse sensor, I always find the beep irritating as it reminded me of a van/lorry. I would appreciate if it's just a beep to affirm that the reverse gear is being engaged but not constant beeping that is even louder than my reverse sensor.
Guess most of the bros here r either without reverse sensor or doesn't mind the symphony of the default & sensor beep. |
At first i mind it. As with all mods, xhos, air filter, ICE; you will get used to it after time.

Worst part about having the beeping sound in reverse when you don't have a reverse sensor is if someone else drives your car and is unaware that you do not have a reverse sensor, he/she might back into something thinking that the beeping sound is from a reverse sensor (when there is none) and will warn him/her when there is something near.
|
You have a good point.
|
better to have this than to have the beeping sound when you never put on your seatbelt. that is irritating. shift car 5 meters also must put on seatbelt...pfft

Cheap way: use ear plugs.

Hmm.. I don't have the default reverse gear beeping sound leh, only the reverse sensor beep, so I hear only one set of beeping, and only when there's something behind me.

Either Mazda received too many feedback from annoyed owners like myself so the newer version comes without the it, or perhaps your PI knows how to remove the reverse beep since they are fitting the reverse sensors for u... Hope it's the latter so there's still a chance that i can disable the reverse beep :p: |

the reverse sensor is only heard when there is something behind the car. in any case, a good driver never totally rely on a reverse sensor...... |
[QUOTE=wen pin;2032266]for the record, when a reverse gear (for a 6MT) is engaged, only one beep is heard.

Yes, a good driver never totally relies on a reverse sensor. Unfortunately, not everyone is born equal. There will always be village idiots and even good drivers will have lapses of concentration or moments of stupidity. Only thing we can do to minimise such occurances is to provide as many good inputs to the driver as possible, be it reverse sensors or reverse cameras. |

Thanks for the clarification about newer 6MTs. My '04 6MT doesn't beep even once when reverse gear is engaged which IMHO is much better because any kind of beep (single or continuous) may give some other driver a false idea that there is a reverse sensor installed.

No wonder nobody is complaining about the reverse cos it seems u guys are either getting a single beep or none at all.
Could it be i'm the only 4AT here that is getting a recurring beep as long as reverse gear is engaged? Guess I should swing by MG one of these days to see if they've a solution for me... |
