Off-Peak RX8
Hi guys
Want some advice on the possibility of getting an off-peak car (OPC) RX8. If i intend to keep the car for say 3 years the most and if i were to use the $20 coupon daily (works out to about $20x365 daysx3 years=$21900), i will, at the end of 3 years, still save on road tax, insurance etc right? waddaya guys think? me considering if it is worth keeping a non-OPC rx8... |
Opc
Well bro that depends on how you look at it...do you frequent malaysia? and for OPC rx8 most PI is offering a $16000 to $17000 discount off the price tag...i ve thought of it at first becoz buying RX8 as my second car but dropped the idea coz still preferred a "full plate car". Do consider carefully, if you regret half way and wanted to change to full plate, think you need to pay 16-17k up front for the conversion. Good luck dude.

Hi bro
If u intend to use the car everyday, theres no point buying OPC cos the savings ($17k less than normal price) is less than usage > $17k if u use coupon every working day of the year. When u sell, the potential buyers will be limited so in the end, u have to convert back to normal car to sell. to minimize financial loss, its better to buy a used car!! Cheers |

Of course i prefer a full plate car (looks nice and all) but i am trying to minimise financial losses while enjoying a nice 8 :ylsuper:
im usin a OPC too...ok the math is simple:if u r usin the vehicle to wk everyday & hit office b4 7 or 7+,ur car will b parked tere & wt move until u knk off,u can go 4 tis scheme.(provided ur knk off time is bout 6+ or 7) the annual road tax is <800 & opc is 50. the 17k reduction is a rebate off the coe wich mean the price-tag oso.i wud advice u to juz go 4 the normal registration, save u the hassle too. |

Bro like what i said earlier on as it all depends how you look at it, some people dun mind as they are using the car before and after 7 daily but for daily use, strongly recommend you to get a full plate to safe all the hassle. PS: Go for lower % interest rate and higher down payment...that is the only way you can minimise your financial losses. |
thanks guyss for the advice.
I guess with my work schedule i rather stick to the normal registration. Yeah i agree better go for lower interest rate and bigger downpayment. Me still saving up for the car...hopefully can book after CNY :ylsuper: |
Since we're on this, can I ask if OPC can move around in malaysia without that coupon? ie. I cross the causeway before 7am and comes back only after 7pm, in between I drive around in malaysia...
