Hi Guys,

Gonna get my 8 this evening any advice - things to do and not to do during run-in?

Wanna check and ask about exhaust/muffler system; which maker is the most ideal which is approved by LTA?

Thrust is loud, but heard that performance wise is not so good;
how about the ones from HKS, RE...etc?

Is there gonna be any meetup at Kallang tomorrow?

Just drive normally around change gear at around 2-3K rpm during the 1st 1000km.

After that just change your engine oil to mineral on your 1st 1000km and on 5000km and 10000km and so on. Just use mineral oil dont brother thinking of other higher grade oil thinking that it will give more power.
Personally I felt theres not much diff using $20 oil or $200 oil. dont waste the money.

Power is not going to increase alot for changing the exhaust, the most 2-4HP increase, which the driver is not going to feel anything. so save the money.
The only thing that change HP by alot is by installing a SuperCharger or Turbo Charger which will cost around $10K.

Run-in advice is as what Morgan has posted.

Mods wise, depends on your priorities. What do you want to get out of your 8? But the stock 8 is already a very capable car so much so that some mods may actually make it worse, so beware. Can't really give you any advice since you didn't even say what type of 8 you got.

I doubt there will be a meet-up at Kallang tomorrow night as this weekend is the mega meet on Sunday morning.

Thinking of changing the exhaust system and wheels (Front-235/Rear-255); the rest would have to wait. :o:

Yea thats true; even if we do wanna run, we could only do it for short distance lol.:lol2:

Getting VR's GTS rim. Any better suggestions for rims?

But what muffler in the market looks and sounds good? I like HKS, but heard that it is not LTA approve.

If u do that it will decrease the acceleration and the top speed of the car.

Cos your front is 1size up and rear is 2 size up.

Trust me I had friend who increase the rim size and they can really felt the slowness of the car.

But if u do not care about the performance but just looks , then thats not a problem.

tubbee 11-30-2006 07:33 AM

Congrats on the purchase!!!

So how long do you have to wait for the car, I believe it is on indent basis correct?

Cheers

only increase the width, not much of a problem. Unless the car has less than 100 ponies, if not, u cun feel anything. Even if u can and are super sensitive, pickup is slow, however handling is up a notch, u gain some u lose some. In any case, staggered sizes setup is a privilege for RWD.

I reckon coupe07 is an advocate for staggered rims (hehehehe) , cos his rear is running on 265. i think.......

Still cant decide on the size of the wheels. Probably gonna go down this Sunday to Kallang for the Mega meet up to look around. Anyway, what's gonna be the highlight over there?

snowflake8888 11-30-2006 09:04 PM

The one of the highlights is INXS eating a lot of mcdonalds ice cream cones in one minute...hehe

Few choices avalable: Fujitsubo (St powered); Trust Ti (Gans Motor Sports), Knight Sports (Monster Garage). All much wider diameter than stock and under 1.9k.

Not sure about the sound tho. Mine is running on Knight sport. Looks and sound ok to me....

Suggest u do a search and will find more info that will help u decide which to install.....

I ordered mine with MM around August/Sep just in time for their Production in OCT, so i got mine just last Thursday (SGN car plate).

Running in is a slow, painful and tedious process
