Many Giving Up Rx8

I found out that more and more Members of around 2years are giving up their Rx8.
So Sad. :( :( :(

So is it time for Mazda to release a new and more powerful Sports Car. or is it really time for us to move on and change to other brand and model.

toxin440 03-29-2007 08:53 AM

I would have to agree - not from seeing people selling them here or talking about it but just from personal experience due to the fact that come the start of next year I will be giving up my 8 for something else. (Either the new V8 M3 or a Nissan GT-R)

I love my RX8, however as I move up and progress in the world/professionally I feel the need for more power, luxury, and reliability. (all of which command a price premium)

The RX8 is truly a great car however something needs to be done about the power situation. (i know thats beating a dead horse) but when Accords and cheap camry's can out accelerate us it just feels wrong). Handling and weight wise though the RX8 will always win though =)

I think of it this way - you know the top gear shootout between the RX8 and M3 how they got the same lap time? Well even though the M3 handles (not as well and is heavier) it makes up for it with power. My next car is going to be more towards the power side then handling because I dont go to too many track events.

I disagree with both of you.

There is no car where some users will not move on to other cars after 2 years.

I don't see any mass exodus taking place. Just owners who decided to get something else for a varity of reasons.

I agree with all three of you. Twice.

toxin440, not to get all personal, but how come you're thinking about buying a 50k+ car if you're still living in an apartment? I'm not criticizing, I'm just curious as to what you're thinking behind that is as it seems to be a little out of the ordinary at least by societal standards and what not.

Gotta agree wif u on this one, bro...

Although the 8 is a dream to drive but owners r often limited by its power n the
potential of it engine...Lots of cars can be tune to outpower the rx8 wif much less
money...My guess is most owners gave up after some time...the thirst for power
is always there afterall...

Now...if only mazda release a supercharge or a sequential twin turbo variant of
the rx8, it would be a dream come true for most of us... :)

I think it's mostly "itchy backside" syndrome. Most people just get tired of it even if it's a good thing. The RX-8 is a very nice car to drive and own. It's a dream car for many aspiring teenagers/young adults. Just that some people wanna move on - whether up, down, or across. It's sad, but I try not to let other people's decision to sell their 8's affect my enjoyment of mine.

To all their own..power isn't everything when I bought this car..looks, handling, practicality (4 seats vs. 2), and comfort (more-so than other sports car in its class), made me buy this car. I will keep it till it dies on me, which I hope is about 20 yrs. down the road and with 200K miles...my Nissan 240SX had 15 yrs. and well over 150K..so..in theory, the rotary engines should last longer than that..if not, I'll enjoy it nevertheless :) OH! Did I mention that I get to own a rare car, being that it is the ONLY rotary made vehicle by Mazda?? Yeah...she's a keeper...

thank you- totally agree :)

bro,tis is a sign of our country's 'gd economy' mah.we r followin jap footsteps liao;3 yrs scrap car, then new 1 will com. ppl like to hear fr their peers: "wah!new model ar,see leh see leh", "tis model? i dr/own b4 liao, notin much lar"...tere r many many out tere who r nt aware of a inspectn @ the 3rd,5th year 1...bros out tere, pls pardon my bluntness huh :Eyecrazy: ...keke

sqflyer 03-29-2007 08:25 PM

Yup, agreed... just hope we don't start having a "Strawberry Generation" of people.. no offence meant. I started from owning bicycle to motorbike to used car to new car... so a bit dinosaur compared to those who can afford to jump direct to new car and change every few years summore.

yup, almost all the 2nd hand at sgcarmart has been snapped up + the newly registered ones... it used to be a rare sight, now everywhere i go i see at least another one on the road.

Jammer 03-29-2007 08:56 PM

but still.. too many on the road..

INXS 03-29-2007 09:41 PM

Gals dunno that it is slow unless u stupidly pit urself against a wrx or evo on the road with them on board. It emerges as a victor in the sex appeal segment with the other jap counterparts. I like my car..

texter 03-29-2007 11:21 PM

I will not trade my RX8 for any other cars at this point. I like coupes and need to do a bit of ferrying. RX8, being a 4-door coupe, is the best compromise. :)

Bro, we won't necessarily lose...it can't be a straight road
forever...heehee... :naughty:

CoMBo8 03-30-2007 06:34 AM

i would say, easy come easy go.

Plaz 03-30-2007 07:48 AM

I've loved my 330... it's just old, has many many miles, and it's time to move on.

Rumboo 03-30-2007 10:38 AM

Well, for what it's worth, many people I know still think it's a great car.. and a couple will be getting one really soon.

Also, as soon as a good deal appears on sgcarmart, it gets sold quickly.. like mysql said, it's just the 2-yr itch for some ppl.

Rumboo 03-30-2007 10:45 AM

By the way... this will be my next car, hehe
