Lobangs for bodykit?

Dear fellow rx8 owners,

A big HELLO to everyone! Just got my 8 last mth... been thinking about getting a bodykit for it but i wasn't in a hurry... Now i'm set on getting it very soon as my 8's front nose has ugly scratches caused by some inconsiderate or moronic driver that does not know how to park properly... (Found my number plate on the floor... that's how bad it is.)

It really breaks my heart to see my beloved 8 in it's state right now (sorta like seeing Ms Universe dig her nose)... So any kind hearted souls out there if u can understand how i feel do please share some lobangs...

Looking for full original kits with spoiler (mazda speed, knight sports, or INGS) which costs $3k plus or good replica kits (Immediate stock would be good)...

A very BIG THANK YOU in advance...

Congrats on ur new ride...but sorry to hear abt ur plight though I do find ur
comparison really funny...Miss universe digging her nose....hahaha... :mdrmed:

For original bodykit, try monster garage...they do bring in all sorts of kits for the
rx8 n they r the authorise dealer for knight Sports in spore...

For replica kit, I think there is someone in the forum selling it...I think he posted a
thread somewhere for his products...try contacting him to make some enquires...

Hope this helps... :)

I understand its at Ubi but Ubi damn big leh... heard they bring in replica kits, so i might want to check it out... any other places to recommend or comments are welcomed...

lootster 04-29-2007 09:40 AM

Hi bro! I also looking around for replica kits....if you got any lobang do share with me ya? Been to Monster Garage and found out that they only bring in original kits which is far too ex......imagine after you fixed already then kena scratch just like your case?

At least replica kits damanged already can fixed new one so not that "sim tiah" :-) Think the cost of one original kit can let you buy 3 to 4 replica kits

went to check out that day. They only have the more common kits like ings, mazda speed and veilside. The price of kit + installation + spraying is about 1.5k.

I called them and they quoted me at 1.6k AND the car needs to be at the workshop for 10 working days.

Personally I'd rather buy original for about 3k or even stay stock.

Sorry bro, can't remember his nick coz it was some time back....

But if ur really considering replica kit, u must be very careful who u go to...
one of the bro juz got his done...ended up wif alot of issues including his
undercarriage cover being drag on the road while driving n wear into half the
size it used to be...

Anyway, happy shopping for ur kit... :)

Thanks bro, btw can pm me where the otr bro did his replica kit from... will probably take a miss on that shop. Tough choice between original and replica for me... quality vs affordability. I wanted to order an original kit from GR recently if not for the staff's ganna lan attitude. Ask for a quote and he can just take calculator type abit and say 4.9k without paint. Want me to part w 5k at least smile abit lah... :)

het 04-30-2007 08:57 AM

well, the choice is darn simple for me......affordability !!! good for those who can well afford the bona fide stuffs. But for poor bloke like me who scrimp and save with monthly discreationary income jus enuff to pay off the installament, i can ill afford those $3-4K kits!!! Anyway, i've seen a few ride with very decent knock-off kits :wiggle:

Bro GR is like that attitude one...... since they are so popular already among the 8 owners. They will give you the take it or leave it attitude. At first i thought how big is their workshop since so many people here recommend them til I pay them a visit.....sigh.

5k for an original body kit? Chop carrot head ah? I think most shop can get u an
original kit for a much lesser price (without spoiler of coz)...n wif paint...

But if ur talking abt the mazdaspeed kit, I say u got urslf a bargain...

Hahaha...I think I've never seen the guys at GR smile once in my life...I think my
frend once told me...unless u happen to drive a GTR, dun expect them to serve u
wif a smile...but that was of coz 5 yrs ago...I think it shld be an evo or a fairlady
now... :mdrmed:

Bro, the price that the GR dude quoted included spoiler... but still seems abit far-fetched u think? The thing abt getting an original kit is that the prices quoted really gives me the chop carrot head feeling. I personally feel that wrkshops are heading towards profit maximisation instead of giving value for money. Hope they can put themselves in our shoes. I mean otr than the bodykit there really are otr expenses with the car to pay for, such as car instalment, maintenance, insurance, road tax, petrol, parking summons, speeding tickets... Honestly, i dun mind spending money on my car... if the price is right. :)

Rei 05-01-2007 08:44 PM

Without paint, the price is far fetched...but it really depend on the kit that ur
looking for...5K wif spoiler seems like the market price for some kits on the
market (wif paint)...

Actually I wouldn't blame the workshops for trying to maximise profit lah...They
are afterall trying to run a biz...Profit maximisation is of coz piority...So, as long as
the prices are reasonable n I get the parts I need, I've got no complains...Guess
I'm more an easy going consumer...heehee... :naughty:

Hmm...thats my exact thoughts when I got my car...I wouldn't mind spending
money on it if the price is right...12 mths down the road, I think I've spend more
money that I've imagine n I keep wanting to spend more (Help...I need therapy)...
Beware of the poisoning, bro...hahaha... :mdrmed:
