Learnt a lesson from MK Racing

recently i had to pay a price and time for a lesson learnt. I hope to share the incident with all bro and hope that you won't have to go thru this experience too.

3 weeks ago i bought my defi gauges from an importer by the name Warren (nic name Gracer from evo forum), he says that he collaborates with this workshop called MK Racing at Yew Tee Industrial Estate. So i sent my Rx8 there for the wiring of the defi gauges.

The chief mechanic looked at the Rx8 and was amazed at how the doors opened, and began boasting of his experiences with older rotary engines. The moment he was amazed at how the doors opened, i felt uneasy....

Later, he used a screw driver to pro out the audio unit (there was a nut that secured the audio unit from the back), this left a mark on the plastic. Then he said "i tried to kiao out the unit but it didn't come out. must me something locking it". ermmm... quite a intelligent observation. I think he must be a genius to have observed that.

after spending 6 hours there, the defi gauges were finally installed... but the audio unit and the aircon ceased to function. The mechanic and the owner checked the fused but nothing was wrong. They tried to fiddle with the rest of the car to find the problem but i guess it was not within their capacity. Thus i asked the owner (Terence Chew) if it was alright that i bring somewhere more specialized to diagnose and if any charges, i pass it on to them. Terence said can.

Then followed 2 weeks of driving with air con during the monsoon season. I brought it to an audio shop and after diagnosing the audio unit, they said that the chip has been damaged. And if i wanted to import the unit from Japan, it would cost more than 1k and would have to indent.

After posting my situation on the forum, several helpful bros called up and gave me leads to places to repair the unit.

Finally the headunit was replaced for $400. After the replacement, i went down to MK racing hoping to claim the repair cost. But they refused and said that in order for me to claim the 400, i had to prove that it was them who damaged the headunit?!?!?!? :wallbash:

I'm at a lost of what i should do and what i can do to claim back the 400. 400 is not a huge sum to me, but what irritates me is their attitude to their customer.

Lost.

well like i can learn a lesson pay a fee n make them compensaid on the spot instead of racky around or on the receipt ask the boss to write black n white so he would not reject u. if he want a poof well his worker is not profession enough he dose not even know how to remove a headunit n causing cosmatic damage to your car. you should ask him to pay for that damage aswell and he didn't even and for the headunits n aircon, poof is ur car enter the workshop in a perfect state but leaving the shop with a complete disaster with audio and aircon failure so this 2 items is the best proof u got cause like i said u go in n with a perfect state with aircon n music but leaving with out them when u drove off. and you have to tell them they have promise to compensate you for the repair.

arhhh.. dyi next time and pull apart the the unit urself before taking it in, saves on labor cost and u'll know they don't fk up. most installation places are not trustworth =/... especially with rare car like rx8... i would only trust them with hondas.

Sadly alot of mechanics are unprofessional. And workshops always deny mistakes.

super annoyed that they kept admitting that its not their error.

i told them that mechanics are like doctors, if you've got no prior experience with such 'surgery', do not take up the case. similarly, if you do not have experience with RX8, pls do not take on the case because of the money. The moment you take on the case, its cos you are confident of doing up the car.

tmd, in the end, the patient went in walking and came out being pushed on the wheel chair. wth:mad:

Now you know why doctors are paid more.
