I read abt it in the papers this morning and thought..."this guy has got to be racing and then kena". It's damn sad when such things happen.

Word in other forums say he was racing a RX-8 and the driver drove off without helping.... :uhh: thats just horrible...

he is reponsible for his own actions
if want to race, do it on a race course. not on public roads.
if he does not get killed, he might still cause danger to others.....supidity at its best

Be it a Drive is driving a Sports car , a normal sedan or even a van. Most of us does not know the limit in which the car will be out of control.

Thats why I personally think that all drivers who wish to drive faster should do it on the Tracks. At least when a driver push his car hard and it lost control he/she will not kill anyone else.
If a driver knows the limitation of his/her car, he/she will never try to push it on normal roads....

Its this kind of people that insurance company are rising the insurance permium on those who are safe drivers but wanted to own a sports car.

That guy was driving a WRX, not a RX8. It was reported in Straits Times.

He meant that the WRX was racing against a RX8, and the WRX crashed, not the RX8

So....does that mean the RX8 is a easier to handle car?

not so ....its the driver that counts....
bottomline : dun do it if you cannot control it
should have proper training and discipline to do it at the correct place.
its ppl like these that give WRX the bad name .....i may get one because of all these...sad story

He is a 23 year old guy...and only son of the family...and his friends says that he had hit on some holes on the ground than lost control...

OWS, they are talking about the RX-8 driver, not the rex driver... think you are getting it confused.

sad thing is, he stayed near my place.... juz round the corner only.......

yesterday went past his funeral in his hse, all the young pple... with s15, mx5, vios, a few rexes........ all the young boys n girls with tiong chias....... nowadays parents getting richer....

sigh ....too bad, this kind of thing happened

Its a case of wearing a pants too big for ones ass.

When its not bought with ones hard work, one will take it for granted.

I just had a rich china client (young female student) "lost" 40k to her "business partner" and now she had to ask her parents in china for another 15k to pay for debts outstanding. And she paid out all this money with only verbal agreements.

If its her own hard earned money; will she be so gullible? And if she had the capability to earn this money she would have not been so gullible in the first place.

So if the guy was mature enough to earn his own keep and pay for his own car, he will be mature enough to know not to put himself or other peoples lives in danger and treasure his fruits of hard labour.

Lucky thing is that no one else was hurt; other than his poor parents hearts.

i totally agree on that. only when its hard-earned by oneself then one will learn to appreciate and treasure. the problem nowadays is that some parents are not educating their kids on this value. simply spoon-feeding is not going to help them in future...the parents can never stay with them forever....

I just hope TP don't target us just because of this RX8 guy who is not even in the club. Target the driver and not the the club.

And I also hope the WRX friends don't come and find trouble with us because we have no idea who he is.

Rich parent should not buy any fast car or bike for their teen, at this age they still cannot understand what will be the consequential behind. You know "small cow don't know tiger". By giving them a fast car is just giving them additional expose into risk.

When I was 17, I secretly brought a LC bike from my friend, without my mum noticed. Ever since I got the bike, I started to know many friends around my age with bike, that is where the danger started.

We started to ride togther, speeding and even racing, at that age I have totally no burden and don't even know what do in future, just have fun. Whenever I was racing, in my mind is only win, so that I could feel proud and to show people that I can, without realising in the expend of my own live.

Thanks god I had an very bad accident that broke my leg, I hit a car switching his lane without realising I was riding at 130kmph on 125cc bike with a tire size less then 80 wide. I only can remeber a very loud sound and one week later I wake up in TTS bed, then realised one leg already broke, cannot even walk to toilet, have to do it in the bed, I am so scare I could not walk forever. My mum is so sad, worries and cry everytime she visited me.

Then I started to realised why should I do that, almost cause my life and put my family in pain. I am just very lucky that I am still alive and able to recovered.

Next time I will not buy fast car for my teen, will only consider SUV if pass their driving lincese.

bottomline: dun indulge the kid too much, let them grow up on their own, earn their keeps and buy on their own ability......however, normally problem lies with the SB rich parents....dun know how to spend their money
btw, SUV also quite difficult to handle , high CG and too bulky , my 2 cents
