Idling problem

Hi all,

Currently facing some idling issues when I replaced my car battery. If the car isn't moving and idle, the revs sits around 750-800 rpm. No issues there. However, when the car is moving say downhill or coming to a stop in neutral, the rev will go down to about 500rpm and most of the time the engine dies :banghead: .

I had to keep restarting the engine almost everytime I come to a stop for the traffic lights or bumps. Tried disconnecting the battery and connecting it back hoping it will reset the ECU again to normal but no luck at the moment.

Anyone faced this issue before? Please help as KL rush hour is driving me insane!!

yes - this will happen when you disconnect the battery . The ECU needs time to re-learn your engine .

This has nothing got to do with the battery, It's probably the throttle body that is clogged. Go have it cleaned out....have you changed your air intake/ air filter?

reset ecu will not solve the problem.

Wat engine oil have u been using all the while?

That's what I thought too. It shouldn't take more than a few hours to relearn the engine right?

I've disconnected the battery before the last time and everything went as normal. Idling was abit higher than usual (1k ave) but started to normalise back to 800rpm after a couple of hours.

Replacing the batteries means resetting the ECU right? Currently using Green drop-in filter. My next bet is the throttle body. Will probably check that out tonight. Although it's quite strange it only started happening after the ECU reset so to speak.

Mineral oil. Was switching between Trust and Q8. Currently using Q8 mineral.
