hey well at least it's listed there with all the "big boy" cars.

The price seems right, I mean the rental price of a gallardo is 3K a day and the rx8 is 250... which is 8% of the gallardo, gotta keep in mind that the buy price of the RX8 is around 10-11% of the buy price of the RX8.

INXS 07-08-2006 02:34 PM

Those of you viewing this thread.. are u thinking what im thinking?

toxin440 07-08-2006 06:16 PM

what are you thinking because now im confused

INXS 07-09-2006 02:35 AM

Rent a dream Car and test its competence.. everyone chips in. But Id pity the fella who rents it and has to return it to the rental co. Hahhaha

ladybug 07-09-2006 06:56 AM

heh like the lamborghini ...and if everyone chips in, can practically do a Le Mans 24 hrs on it and the next day when its returned it will add another 2000km on the mileage

INXS 07-09-2006 09:24 AM

Ai mai..??

Silver Shadow 07-09-2006 10:03 AM

Why would anyone want to drive a car they could not afford in the first place? Just to show off for a day? All one gets is just a artificially inflated ego and much lighter wallet.

The states has real cheap car rental. BMW, mercs, Ferrari, lambo, all for unbelievable cheap rates. But i thought whats the point?

INXS 07-10-2006 12:03 PM

Looks like Emperor is not interested...

vesfreq 07-10-2006 07:25 PM

Emperor, fyi..... people rent branded cars for wedding too. So, lets not be hasty in our conclusion. :hahano:

Emperor 07-11-2006 12:50 AM

Why?

EBS 07-11-2006 07:12 AM

Hi

Not everyone can afford what they desire. A RX8 may be unattainable to some people (not to mention the likes of Modena or Gallardo), and for some fan who really love the 8 but cannot buy one, renting it for a day may give him a life time of fond memories.

INXS 07-11-2006 11:54 AM

Emperor, what was your wedding car?

dmp 07-11-2006 11:59 AM

A semi-local place rents exotics. For example, a Viper is $500/day, 50 free miles, then $1 per mile 51 miles and over.

Unreal. I couldn't drive the thing home 'free'.

If that was SG dollars than I'd do it :)

Sportsgirl, hows ur car?

Emperor 07-11-2006 10:44 PM

My own CRV.

I cannot understand why people will spend so far beyond their means just to feel good for a short while. Last month there was this article in the financial section in the sunday times about splurging on wedding.

This girl booked a grand dinner and bought 20k worth of tiffany stuff. End of the day who remembers this wedding; the bill payer? Who is paying for the bill for what others ate 2 years ago?

And the following week, people wrote in to the forums of the straits times heckling at her.

How does a person feels returning the ferrari after enjoying it for 24 hours? He will long for it but yet feel bad he will not own one. Its like getting STD after a one night stand. Regret after a short moment of bliss.

sqflyer 07-11-2006 11:54 PM

Different strokes for different folks. Most wedding packages include the bridal car. Some people want to splurge on their weddings and as far as I know, it ain't a crime. Maybe not very practical, but they "song" mah. Just be happy for them. No need to point fingers and say they are stupid for wasting money or whatever.

INXS 07-12-2006 12:03 AM

I gues Emperor is the only saint here .. while the rests are foolish, he's prudent.. Wait, if he is prudent, why choose a Rx8? The corolla should make more sense right, more practical, better FC?

Emperor 07-12-2006 12:58 AM

Because i know i can fully pay and maintain it. Thats why. And the other reason is i do not have to ask my parent to pay for it.

What i am saying here is not to overspend beyond one means. Isn' it good advice. Rather than encouraging people to go rent a gallardo for 3k a day and misleading them into thinking they should be doing and spending the money they should not be in the first place.

Yes, people spend on weddings (key word is spend here), but is it not foolish to splurge. Other key word is afford. Sound advice isn't it. There was this saying, good friends encourage you to save and ill company encourage you to spend. Thus wine and meat friends. If you think i am being bad company to encourage saving, go ahead.

A mature person who earns his own hard earned money will know the true meaning of it.

Whats so wrong with a corolla? Offensive to you? A person who used to drive a corolla pays $70k in taxes every year.

INXS 07-12-2006 01:47 AM

The title of the thread is not "Go rent a Gallardo".. rather, how much the cars cost a day of rental. There is a spectrum of reasons why youll need to rent a car, this is just another rental option im bringing to everyone.. not affiliated in anyway, just taken off from a website.

Saving is a virtue, we all know. Theres no need for u to insinutate that the purpose of this thread was to ENCOURAGE ppl to spend. However, its up to the individual to decide whether he/she should use that money, either to buy , rent ( one time transaction) when it calls for any occasion(s).

I guess you wouldnt like someone to comment that youre DUMB to buy the Rx8...cos the FC is rocket high... coming from someone whos driving a lesser car. Cause youre reason is ' I CAN JOLLY WELL AFFORD IT.'

Likewise, If someone was to rent a car and get your kinda comments.. they'll tell you " Its my money.. makes me happy... I jolly well know what i should do with it"

Again youre insinuating, nothing to do with corolla, its just being used as a 'compare and contrast' on the running costs with the 8. Nothing against it.

Emperor 07-12-2006 02:05 AM

Oh i see i touch on a raw vein. Oh well, lets just leave it at it is. No further comments from me. :)

Give emperor a break. He is just too politically correct. You are the one who started this. He was right. I saw that report in sunday times. And the previous week about parents still giving allowances to children of working age or still buying them expensive gifts. Nowaday young people are too soft.

sqflyer 07-12-2006 06:36 AM

I think there are a number of people here who received their RX-8s from their parents. Some people may feel that it is wrong and makes the children soft or have a poor sense of the value of money and hard work, but personally I don't see anything wrong with receiving gifts from parents with the right attitude/values. If anyone has a problem receiving an Enzo from their parents, they can give it to me. :)

Emperor 07-12-2006 07:18 AM

My own stand is like that. Guys should work hard, after all they will have a family to feed. Gals can be pampered though i think there still a limit. As long as its not too overboard i think its quite alright. But when a guy lives off his parent i feel its too much.

My dad too offered to pay for alot of my stuff but to me i felt as long as i can make my own money why should i take his. After all he work for his own money so he should spend it himself. In addition i give him a fixed allowance and part of my income; sort of showing fillial piety.

Oops. I shouldn't be posting any more in case i offend more people. To each his own.

sqflyer 07-12-2006 08:46 AM

FYI, there are guys here who received their 8s from their parents... be careful who's toes you step on - they may be connected to the arse you have to kiss later.

Well, if people use their hard earnED (pun intended) money to splurge on their wedding, they know the value of their hard earnED money before splurging, rite?

Therefore, with regards to ur earlier statement below, if people choose to splurge on their wedding and it is their hard earned money, it should be ok, rite? :mdrmed:

"This girl booked a grand dinner and bought 20k worth of tiffany stuff. End of the day who remembers this wedding; the bill payer? Who is paying for the bill for what others ate 2 years ago?"

Honestly, people want to use money to wipe table and it is their hard earned money, it should be ok. :hahano: Lets not be too carried away. People want to use money to chop seat, let them be. :) But, we should also refrain from judging on how people spend. De rao ren chu qie rao ren.

I overtake the stewpig cab today. He buay song come and cut into my lane. Cheong to overtake him also no point, .... cos red light ahead. :hahano:

Hahaha, this is just forum, casual exchange, no malice intended. If everyone has the same views, we'll all simply be robots with the same programs.. wheres the fun gonna be ???

Everyone grows up differently, thus different values and perspective. Emperor has he's own thinking, so do I. Id take his views as a learning point and reference anytime.. Cheers..
