Help! My car now looks like a jeep!
Hi everybody,
I know next to nothing about tires/rims, so pls don't laugh at this post. I accompanied a friend to Poh Heng last weekend. Justin recommended I change my stock 16" (225/45-16) to a set of used 18" Kyowa rims with AD07 tires (225/40-18). Price was decent, so no issue here. Problem now is that the gap between my car body and top of the front wheel is about 4 fingers wide (I've got pretty big hands too). Overall wheel size looks about the same (with a seemingly wider gap - not sure why). Can the seniors here pls recommend (i) a COST EFFECTIVE way of narrowing this gap, (ii) the expected damage and (iii) tire pressure for my new tires? Thanks again all! P.S. I have no idea what the "offset" is, how to measure it, or even if its relevant. |
Stock rims/tires are 18" with 225x45 tires. Your 225x40 tires are a lower profile (shorter sidewall) and therefore the greater 'gap' between tire and fender.
Since you stayed with 225 width, that looks the same. You can lower your '8 or go back to stock 225x45 tires. But do stay with the 18" rims. 32 psi is the standard tire inflation pressure. |
