Help, Coolant level light on, heat feeled.
my car is type E, auto. my coolant level indicator light is on.
i think my fan is not working? but the water level is full, temp indicator doesn't show it overheating. i can feel the heat. it make my car smells. |
it could be the coolant sensor being damage...i have the same experience. bring to a garage ... i think they can fix it up for u ........if still persist...get a new coolant reservior.
|
Thanks. flushed my car 3 times. and i think u are right.
|

Huh. The sensor can be taken out? Was told that the sensor and the coolant tank comes together. x|
Most of the ppl here would have most probably replace the whole tank. Pls post again if the coolant light did not light up again for the next 1-2 weeks. A million thanks. |
Not the reed switch but the magnetic float that in the tank failed to float anymore. You can either make a external sensor assembly or replace the tank.
|
^ +1 about the magnetic float that in the tank failed to float anymore :)
For info its not about the sensor being replace because i've tried it before and still not working.. solution is just buy a new water tank :yesnod: anyway here's how it look like a new sensor inside our water tank ;) http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/8...oto0028dv0.jpg http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/5...oto0029im7.jpg |
Most probably only blackjax and caspel had seen my self made external water level sensor assembly (last visit to singapore :) ) The reed switch is very cheap and can get from most electrical shop. I though is the reed switch problem too at the beginning. But after several testing, found the real problem is the float. The reason i don't wanna buy the ori tank is because I felt a bit toolan of the original tank quality for such an amount of $$. No guaranty on solving the problem permanently. So I just get some water heater parts, reed switch, some cooper piping + brass fitting and hoses, to made something bolt on, to give the water level signal to the car.

Ultimate solution is coming (hopefully will come out on July after beta test) :) |
sound good, i'll wait for that :)

Currently I met a bottle neck, that, how to make the cost as low as possible :) Material and certified TIG welding services are already expensive. Some more need to do helium detection leak test (normally 100 psi). The sensor rated at 140 celcius safe working temp and need to design something to make it works although coolant temp reach 150c (no problem on design but only higher cost), DIY removable, serviceable, repairable sensor assembly design face the cost problem as well. A lot of things need CNC made in stead of just put few plate together and weld on . I know it is not necessary but I don't wanna come out with something that just reach the guessing tolerance or just enough to solve the problem in a short term basis. I want something that rated beyond specification, and will be a permanent solution.
