Heat Shield

Received a call from HY to install the heat shield. Is it advisable to install the heat shield. Cos i dont feel comfortable with the technician skill frm HY to install the heat shield. Will the heat shield cause any misfunction in my car if it's not properly install? I also heard that by installing the heat shield doesnt help much in reducing the heat too. Is it true?

Do it now for free. Otherwise you may have to pay for any consequences if any arises in the future. Like coupe07 said, peace of mind.

1. See how the technician do it while they install it and make sure they do not damage anything. (bear in mind that they may not like it)
2. Check for defects when they hand you back the car.

If you refering to MM recalled to install the "heat shield" thing, then bascially is a kind of WRAP between the lower pipe and the petrol tank. Coz MM claim it's too hot and the grap between the lower pipe and petrol tank is too closed.
Anyone, correct me if I am wrong. :grouphug:

it's a grey sponge-like material with adhesive on one side, to stick to the front side of the fuel tank. it has a Mazda part no. on it, but forgot to take note and came with a service bulletin. i thought it was some kinda ceramic cloth-like material or aluminium, but was disappointed.

got good relations with my SE and the moment that part reached the PI, took it from her and went to their garage to get it fixed. the service bulletin also requires them to inspect some wiring for signs of burn as well.
