Heat Producing RX-8

hey guyz, I just bought Rx-8 AT6, im just wondering.. cause the centre part of the car is very hot after long hour driving abt (3hr-5hr)... it like the cup holder and the compartment is hot. The cold drink can become a hot drink. I just wanna to know is it normal or that something with the car or insulation.

Welcome to the forum.
What year is your car? Have all the recalls been done?
Heat soak after a long trip is normal but the recall heat shields and insulation help to some extent.

Edit:

6AT means a fairly recent car so the recall may not apply. Heat soak is not restricted to the RX8; many sports cars have this issue.

Its very normal. If it is not hot then it will be adnormal. hahahha
Anyway i call that a cup warmer. I put hot drinks there instead of cold drinks.

RX8 is hot....... ..... you can tell from it looks right.

aLip: I think your car sales guy forgot to tell you of this fantastic feature -- the front center console is design as a natural coffee cup warmer. For you cold drinks, put it in the cup holders in the center console back seats.

I think silly Mazda must have forgotten to insert and mention this wonderful coffee warmer feature into their RX8 brochures. I love it especially after a hard night out, a strong cup of hot coffee as I drive to work is wonderful.

not only cup holder.. the gear shift, hand brake also hot......

Cody Red 07-03-2007 11:51 PM

check your trunk, it'll also be hot. it's our own 'heat wave' bag like that of dominoe's.

nah but rotaries generate a lot of heat, it's normal. i never really complain about my drinks getting hot because i drink them 'quick enough' to experience a warm drink.

The rx8 is a perfect pizza delivery car....it keeps the pizza hot hot hot.
