Good Parallel Importers

Hi,

i'm looking for a reliable parallel importer . does anyone have any importers to recommend? secondly, do you get your cars serviced at the PI that you bought the car from or do you go to a trusted garage?

secondly , i heard that the auto version is not suitable for the rotary engine and that servicing is very costly.

Pls advise

I got mine from Huayang and service at their workshop Sportwagen. Think they are one of the PIs that have been around for a long time. Last time one of the most popular PI was GarageR as they have alot of experience with rotary but I heard they do not do RX8 anymore.

I can't really say whether the one that I go to is good or bad as my ride is still pretty new but so far no problems.

whatever PIs you might get it from.... pls trust me... DUN EVER GEt FROM LECO MOTORS. their after sales service really very bad. and they cant be bothered... and they chase you for payment like loansharks... so think twice.. you dun wan to buy a car and get rejected for aftersales service.

thks guys for the advice...its cool to hear and know that there is quite a number of auto rx-8 users. im actually planning to get mine just in time for december and cny which is cheonging season.

anyone can pluck any figures for servicing ?? and i also realized that the manual version offered by MM has stuff like DSC , is it important? or is it just unessential options?

u will be surprised that 50% of the rx8 in the club are autos.....

wat u r paying for the rx8 offered by MM is the full spec-ed car... u have virtually everything....... i wldnt say its unimportant, but essentially, do u want a manual or an auto???

if u can decide between the 2, then the answer is obvious.....

darkelfin 09-14-2005 10:37 PM

siakster, i rem there's a thread on the cost of servicing. we quoted autobac, garager and hy among others i think. u can do a quick search.

MM only has manual still i think so if u want auto, it's PI.

hope tis helps.

lohsk, i think some of the bros here mentioned that gr no longer bring in the rx8. so guess tat rules out tat option.

Auto gearboxes tend to require more care than manual ones. And you cannot whack it too hard like a manual one.

Due to the complexity of the auto gearbox, of course it costs more to replace it.

I sold my old CVT Civic around 5-6 years ago and the dealer who bought my car had to replace the gearbox for about $7k.

Siakster 09-18-2005 04:55 AM

hmmmm....definition of too hard varies. lol. i usually rev up to 4000 rpm for my current car. is that considered hard?

Siakster 09-19-2005 04:53 AM
